My strip scar repair with Dr. Robert Jones

My strip scar repair with Dr. Robert Jones

This album illustrates the result of the procedure I had with Dr. Robert Jones on October 27, 2008 to repair a bad hair transplant done by a different doctor (Dr. Taylor) in 1995. The original transplant was the worst decision of my life, it left me with an ugly and apparent surgical scar as well as wiry unnatural looking transplanted hair along my hairline. My goal was to be able to shave my head again with confidence; with Dr. Jones help, we vastly reduced the scar.

The repair surgery I had involved taking out individual plugs called FUE (follicular unit extraction) to then transplant into my original strip donor scar. Secondarily I had my frizzy donor grafts popped out. The session involved the removal of about 200 FUE units, and having them transplanted back into the scar to camouflage it.
I ended up having 3 sessions roughly 6 months apart, but the second two were primarily to pop out the old grafts on my front hairline. Each session lasted approx 2 hours. It hurt but was worth it.

4 or 5 days off work are needed if you want the scar or red dots from the removed plugs to heal enough not to be apparent to work colleagues (or to wear a hat).
I’m very pleased with Doctor Jones’ work, he gave me back my life.
