Hair Transplant and Rogaine

Hello everyone,

My name is Sam Atashnia, I recently had a hair transplant two weeks ago and so far I am very pleased with the way it is healing. My main concern now however is with regards to the use of prescriptions like rogaine, propecia etc. My surgeon has recommended that I start using rogain (minoxidil) for a period of one year to help boost the growth process.

To put it simply, I really don't want to take any of those medications at all. However, before I make my decision, I just wanted to clear up some confusion about the topic. So far, all the information I have heard about the use of these products after a hair transplant has all been completely contradictory.

On one hand, my surgeon, and all other surgeons tell me that even if I don't use these products, the implanted hair will still ultimately grow to its full capacity, quality and thickness. On the other hand, they all recommend that I take these products to help boost the growth process.

This is very confusing to me, my question is, if the implanted hair will ultimately grow to its full quality and capacity if I dont use these products, then what's the sense in giving it a boost? the final result will be the same whether I use it or not, won't it?

Thanks a lot,

i recently had a transplant done for the same reason but to me personally the risk of taking meds for a year is outweighing the risk of not. both are FDA approved. think of it as a leaking faucet and your are doing everything to stop the leak. surgery and meds included. best regards.
