What is Hair transplant?

1. FUE Hair Transplant - Follicular Unit Extraction or FUE or Follicular Transfer (FT) is a technique that involves extracting individual follicular units (hair grafts) from the patient's donor area, one at a time. FUE hair transplant makes use of a special instrument to make tiny incisions in the skin around the follicular units and at the same time separate it from the surrounding tissue. The follicular unit is then extracted from the scalp leaving a small hole. The follicular units obtained are then placed into the recipient area or the balding areas, where they will grow into strong hair producing follicles. This technique allows the surgeon to achieve more than a thousand hair grafts in one day. This is most popular hair regrowth treatment now days.

2. FUT Hair transplant - Follicular Unit Transplantation or FUT is a technique that involves removing of a strip of tissue from the donor area and then transplanting it into the balding areas of the scalp. Usually the hair from the back and the sides of the scalp are utilized in this procedure. The strip is broken into several individual follicular units using microscopic dissection methods. The hair surgeon then makes tiny incisions in the scalp known as recipient sites and then transfers the grafts into it. FUT is considered to be an advance version of the traditional hair transplantation methods. In this hair loss treatment the scar remains on the scalp.

3. Robotic Hair transplant- This technique is considered to be an advance of the FUE procedure. In robotic hair transplant technique, follicular unit grafts are harvested through automation. This enables to achieve a greater precision while extracting. Its speed and accuracy is impossible to be achieved by a human surgeon and also the robot can place the follicular units in the recipient site accurately as designed by the hair surgeon.
