Consultation and Appointment

I had decided to have a transplant and met with the staff at the Transmed Clinic in Istanbul's Etiler neighborhood. It is a convenient area, and on the day of surgery a chauffeur is arranged for home/hotel pick up and drop off. I met with Mr. Taner concerning procedures available and was soon escorted up stairs to see Dr. Ilker Apaydin. We discussed some of my concerns, his hair line approach and looked at some before and after photos. I booked an appointment two weeks later to have 2800 gra

Clinton's HRB Day 1-2 weeks: Caring for your Hair

How should you care for your hair: 1.) Vitamins are always a good bet; however, wait until after you heal as some may cause the blood to thin out. Your best bets are vitamin A, B, and E series for good hair growth. 2.) Your diet will determine how you heal: Prepare meals that are healthy in nature. Remember, you will be sitting around a lot while you heal, so portion your meals out well. 3.) Drink plenty of fluids: Water, Orange Juice, Pomegranite Juice, Mango Juice (you get the idea). Thi

Clinton's HRB Day 1-6: What to Expect

Between day one (1) through six (6), you may experience the following: 1.) Dehydration (you may find yourself drinking lots of water). I'm not an expert in H20, but any shock to the body probably starts this process. 2.) Day 1 and 2, you may find yourself a little red on top. Don't worry, by Day 3, the scalp begins to relax and cells begin to heal. 3.) You may feel tightness, numbness, and even pain in the donor area. Some of this may be from the stitches being tight and the other a part o

Clinton's HRB Day 0 - Surgery Day: How to Prepare

How to prepare for a hair transformation surgery: The following things should be done when preparing for surgery; especially if you live alone. 1.) I would suggest performing this in the winter time when you are forced to stay indoors and away from activities for a few weeks. 2.) Go out a few nights before and purchase groceries. You probably won't feel like leaving the house for a few days due to the doner area incision 3.) Prepare your immune system several days in advance (e.g., Vitam

Clintons Hair Restoration Blog (HRB): Research

Research: Hair restoration today has become a general science in which these medical facilities have popped up on every corner and performing the work isn't rocket science. However, there are several things to consider when having hair restoration; these include: 1.) Plasic surgeon vs. general doctor 2.) Shaved head or no shaved head 3.) Head Wrap / no Head Wrap 4.) Doctor performs the recipient area incisions / hair techs perform each incision. 5.) Stitches versus Staples The cost

Post FUE (1500 grafts) day 4

Day 4 after my two-session FUE procedure to transplant just over 1500 grafts (around 3000 hairs) to rebuild the hairline and fill in gaps left by diffuse thinning. My hair loss has been stable for some years thanks to finasteride and minoxidil, but the time had come for me to take the next step towards fixing my hair, and move away from a dependency on cosmetic concealers like Toppik (although they are great, and have been my crutch for some time!). Skin is healing very well - frequent saline

25 year old male from Denmark

I have been losing my hairs for some years. I have always been focusing a lot about the outside appearance. So it definitely hurt me a lot that I was going bald. In the start I was just crossing my fingers that it wouldn’t hit me totally. My sister studies pharmacology at the same university in Denmark as I study psychology she told me that MPB mostly binds to the x chromosome. I’m not sure that this is right though but I liked the theory as my dad is totally bald and my mother’s father still ha

Day 226 - 7.5 months

Slight delay with the monthly updates as I've been on holiday for three weeks. It's been good to get away and not dwell on whether my HT is making progress! Now I'm back - well... I don't know, am I making the progress I should be? My hair seems a little thicker compared to previous months, but it's not really much different from pre-op. The crown seems, if anything, thinner now - not sure if it's the light shining on it from a different angle. The density at the front is what's most dis

Leaving Ottawa to Day 20

Just an update. Going through customs wasn't much fun to be honest. At US customs in Ottawa, I was asked to remove my hat at security and had to leave it off while my bag was scanned and I was put through the "nude" scanners etc. I was asked to remove it again at passport control despite honestly telling the customs officer what my purpose of visit in Ottawa had been (he scoffed a little when I told him). I was also surprised that you cleared US customs in Ottawa. On the up note, despit

Should i have a Hair Transplant?

I am 24 years old and as you can see from my pictures (These are on my Album Pics in my profile as i am having difficulty adding these to the blog) my hair line has receded quite significantly as well losing hair in my crown area. I have drawn my ideal hairline shown on the pictures also, not too sure how far I would be able to achieve this. I definitely want a hair transplant, just want some opinions on this. As I am new here I have some questions listed below. If anyone can give any insight to

First FUT: 2900 Grafts on Dec. 22, 2010 by Dr. Rahal

Hello Everyone, My first hair transplant surgery (FUT) was just completed by Dr. H. Rahal in Ottawa, ON. The procedure went very well, and in total I received about 2900 grafts on December 22, 2010. Today (Dec. 26) I feel no pain or discomfort, and the facial swelling is almost gone. Overall, my HT experience has been excellent so far, and I am very glad for choosing Rahal Hair Transplant Clinic. Background. Androgenic alopecia runs in my entire family, but with some variations; my brother (

One Month Post Op

So i just finished uploading pics from week 3 and today (week4).. I knew i'd get to a point that would be difficult where I would see the hair be a little worse than where i started. I think that that time is now. . While i'm only one month post op I've shed most of the hairs from the follicles and I continue to shed native hairs. While it's not handfuls it's still annoying to see hairs both long and short in your hand when you shampoo. At what point does all of that stop happening. Plu

Surgery with Dr Rahal - 15 Dec 2010

Travel and arrival After a long flight from Australia to Canada with delays and missed connections I finally made it to Ottawa on the evening of 13 December. Although getting to Ottawa was a nightmare, with my flighted being rerouted to go via Chicago, to via Montreal, then delays in Montreal due to the weather, getting out at Ottawa was a dream, my luggage was the first out then straight to the taxi rank, no waiting and straight on to Foxbar Guesthouse - which is accomodation dedicated to Rah

day 12: Haircut/Date. Follow up meet w Dr.Mohebi

Dr.Visit: Dr.Mohebi was in the San francisco area this week, so he had a chance to see the progress live. I discussed my concerns about some of the hairs that fell out particularly from top left front, and right temple on day 6. He said that there is a remote possiblity that, due to how thick my scalp skin was, that they are not going to grow back. However, if actual grafts (vs normal post surgery-hair shedding) fell out, that he would help take care of it--which I appreciate.he mentioned some

New Hair Status Day 6 vs Day 8

I was noticing that on day 6, after the shower with baby shampoo for about 10 minutes, that the new hair were falling out very easily when I ws barely touching them to get the crust off. Granted, virtually all of the transplanted hairs are more than likely to fall out within 3 weeks, but I'd personally like to keep them for as long as possible, and also some of the hairs that fell out could be grafts. to play it safe, I went back to a more gentler approach of baby shampoo for a couple of mi
