Day 13 Stitches are out! 11/14/2012

I had the stitches removed today. There was some slight bleeding where the knots were but other than that there was relatively no pain. all of the crusts have fallen off of the graph site and unfortunately some the transplanted hairs have fallen out as well Still using the copper peptide shampoo, spray and lotion, and using the minoxidil foam x2 daily. Ordered some new shampoo today as the copper peptide one that I have was just a sample size and it won't last much longer. Also have been usi

Day 8 11/9/12

Finally able to shower normally. Having to use the cup method was truely a PITA. My scalp has started to form crusts and scab over and I am feeling tissue building up in the donor area. Hopefully the itching subsides soon. Still using the copper peptide shampoo, and have noticed that small amounts of crusts are starting to come off. Called the Doctor about using minoxidil today, they said the foam was preferred and that I could start using it immidiately on my hair if I wanted to. I ordered

Stem Cell Therapy for Hair Regrowth

I am 63 years old and used to have a full head of hair. I started losing hair when I was about 50 and developed a large bald spot as well as frontal hair loss.. Typical male pattern baldness. I read all the stories about hair loss and decided to try using stem cell theapy instead to regrow my hair. I went to see: Paul A. Dreschnack, MD Nobel Prize Nominee Recipient of Distinguished Surgeon Award Plastic, Cosmetic and Reconstructive Surgery He has perfected the art of using stem c

My hair restoration with Dr Suradej Pong- Thailand

I am one day post op from my hair transplant surgery with Dr Suradej Pong from Chiang Mai in Thailand. If you read my profile you will see that I have spent some considerable time researching hair restoration surgeons and weighing up the pro's and cons of each. I decided to go with Dr Pong after reading very positive reviews about him on this website and also some others. I was very impressed by his website http://www.thaihairclinic.com/index.php which demonstrated some excellent results in his

1848 Grafts - Dr. Timothy Carman Review at La Jolla Hair Restoration in San Diego, CA

My HT (hair transplant) surgeon was Dr. Timothy Carman out of La Jolla Hair Restoration in San Diego. I rarely write reviews like this but my two HT experiences with Dr. Carman have been amazing and I want others to get a better sense of what a great surgeon he is. I am currently writing this review during day 2 post-op of my second HT with Dr. Carman. I will get into my experience with Dr. Carman a little later in this review. I was 31 years old when I had my first HT. I have always had a r

Minoxidil Hair Loss

Hi there, I started using Kirkland 5% Minoxidil last week and have noticed that I have hair loss since then. Will this subside or not? Also I find it a bit itchy when first applied. I notice there are a few similar posts with recommendations for Rogaine foam? I use this along with American Crew Trichology shampoo, saw palmetto and laser therapy. Is there any other products you can recommend to me or think are better that what I am using?   Thanks C   I would appreciate also if

Day 3 11/3/12

Got to wash my hair today, Used the cup method. Tried calling the Doctors office because the instruction sheet says to massage lightly during shampoo, and in his office he said not to touch it. I didn't touch it just in case since I didn't ever get in touch with them. The pain is much better, woke up virtually pain free, and all day the only pain I am having is when the suture line gets bumped. Was outside all day, wearing the hat they gave me. Got a little itchy but it was manageable.

Day of Surgery 11/1/12

Working nights I got off around 0520 and made my way to the doctors office. Having to fight heavy houston AM traffic I arrived just shy of 0800. They were very helpful and I was ready to begin the procedure by 0900. The Doctor drew on my scalp a rough sketch of what my hairline would look like and away we went. they began with several injections of a local anesthetic around the donor area and began to remove the onor piece. It was a very weird feeling as i could not feel any thing sharp but i c

Day 2 11/2/12

Can't wash it today, the pain is pretty bad, trying to stay on top of it with ibuprofen and vicodin. The swelling in my head has gone down some, and the pressure isn't as intense. We didn't buy the $500 healing kit, but bought copper peptide spray online and have been using that, and the cream on the suture area.

Expectations

I am new to this network and I am having my second procedure this coming month. My initial procedure was with Bosley more than 10 years ago. The experience at that time was fair and this time, I'm using a different HR practice. Cost has been a consideration but also a lot of research. Blogs are okay but I'm always cautious about motives and relationships, if any with the physicians. For me, I think you need to have reasonable expectiations. I'm having a little more density created that is age ap

Observations from the HT procedure

I had 2500 grafts transplanted by Dr. Mark DiStefano on August 9th. I wanted to share some of my experiences that others considering a HT might find useful. I had read others experiences that stated that the procedure, after numbing, is virtually painfree. Indeed, that was my experience. There is very little discomfort once numbed. However, there is the discomfort of having a lot of shots at both the donor site and the recepient sites. In order to minimize this discomfort, my doctor appli

10/26/12- First HT with Dr. Robert True

Hey guys, So I had my first HT with Dr. True yesterday morning! My morning didnt start off too well because I ended up in the same address of his practice in Brooklyn instead of Manhattan, and walked into a ghetto apartment building that smelled like a bathroom and realized that.....this cannot be where Dr. True is haha. So i finally figured out where his office in Manhattan was and reached there at 9am even though my appointment was at 8am. Dr True and his staff were great, we joked

Feriduni in february

Hi everyone, after reading really good advise/posts on here for the last 18 months I've finally taken the plunge and getting an fue with Dr Feriduni in February. 2,500/3,000 grafts recommended and although excited I'm also incredibly nervous. Anyway I intend posting my experience on here to hopefully help future readers.
