Hi,

I am in my early forties and have been balding since my mid twenties. Initially I tried Minoxidil but had no effect and basically just gave up in the late 1990s and shaved my head. Then I had the misfortune of hearing of a company(shall remain nameless though most have probably heard of them) that offered troupes but didn't quite describe them as such. I had a hairpiece installed in 2001, and whilst the experience of a toupee was very uncomfortable and brought many issues, my confidence did improve no end.

I decided to abandon my toupee in favour of Laser treatment in conjunction with Propecia and Monoxidil in 2003. The results were miraculous restoring my hair to where it was nearly 15 years before.Trust me it was the combination of the Laser and the other treatments that did the trick. However the laser treatments were expensive and I heard a lot of scare stories about Propecia (indeed my own Libido was affected). I swapped out the drugs for a hand-held laser-comb whilst I didn't loose all my hair back to the year 2000 low, the quality and coverage as well as the maintenance was quite a setback.

I then started using a Home made Laser helmet purchased from the United states and that retarded and further hair loss in conjunction with Nizarol shampoo but I never achieved the dizzy heights of Laser studio plus Propecia.

I then like most people heard of certain celebrities having FUE and after a lot of quiet research of this and other forums decided to opt for FUE. Being a forty year old I can see a very clearly defined pattern in my hair-loss (approx Norwood 5a but with very diffuse hair on much of the crown and vertex so it doesnt look too bad, which I have been at for quite a few years now fortunately I like my hair very short another reason for FUE over FUT)
