welcome to the site , RELAX RELAX and RELAX , U are going to be fine , first off you have a great head of hair , how many hairs fall in the sink when u comb your hair , its normal to shed between 50 to 100 hairs a day, , if your losing more then that a day on a regular basis , get on propicea or proscar ,as they are suppose to help you keep the hair you have and rogaine foam, as well ,if you have any side effects you can always stop using it, so no harm done,

Sadbuttrue gives great advice . Talk to a doctor about Propecia and Rogaine . Don't rush into surgery ! Take your time and make good decisions . Your hair loss looks minimal . Can you post a crown photo ?

It is good that you are possibly catching hair loss in the earliest stages. If you are able to halt its progress and keep the existing hair....you'll be in good shape; finasteride would be my first choice if your doctor agrees. By the time I starting using rogaine, I'd already lost a significant amount of hair...it went fast for me at only 20/21 years of age.

A similar thing happened to me when I was in my late teens. I lost a lot on the temples but kept a great density on top until I hit about 25/26.
Look at the hair you shed. Are the hair strands different thicknesses? This is a classic sign that some follicles are shrinking and producing finer and finer hair which will dwindle away to minute, practically invisible fluff that no longer grows. If you can get on Regaine foam (or a cheap generic version), then that might be a good idea. If you can't afford it then I don't think it is the end of the world if you wait 2 or 3 years.

Being only 18 i would recomend that you talk to your dr about Propecia. I personally started using Propecia at about 20 years old, and have been using it everyday since. I have experienced none of the negative effects you hear of. For me it was a lot easier then using a topical solution, and I definitely think that my hair loss has stabilized.
The only downside is that Propecia is a little pricey. Let me know if you have any other questions -nick |
