Stuff like this make me realize paying the extra $$ to go to Dr K was well worth it. There's really no excuse for any doctor to not try and repair a situation like this to keep from getting the bad press that goes along with it.

Sorry to hear what had happend. Maybe there are other things going on, like you losing additional grafts and you were not a good candidate intitially.

A lot of things sound pretty scary though:
- Strip for so few grafts
- Throwing away of precious grafts after "over-stripping"
- Repair work with full payment

This needs to be adressed ASAP. If only part of this is true, there has to be sth. done...

Mmh, no one seems to bother about wasted grafts. Strange.

Wanted to visit Diep. But this slams it for me. I dont know. Some guys have luck with good growth. Others take a dive. Feel your pain though if I were in your shoes. Knock it out of the park with the next dr. to fix this. Keep us posted though.

I asked him about it after my stitches came out and he said "We don't want to over do it". So I guess he took too wide of a strip (which I now have a pretty wide scar from) even after I had stressed to him multiple times that I was concerned about not having enough laxity for 3000.
Man, sorry to hear about your bad experience!!!
If one looks up his reviews on all other sites, such as yelp, and other sites, then he or she will know that this guys is only after $$$ does not give a rats ass about the person and his hair.

FBO,

So sorry to hear about your experience, but thank you very much for sharing an experience like this. It is not easy to do.

I can definitely relate to you on a personal level. I had 4 botched procedures, which ultimately led me to Dr. Umar, who literally saved my life. I'm having a second procedure with him in October for "the final touches." But the reason why I am telling you this is not to beat yourself up over it. There are good, and ethical doctors in this industry who "stand by their work".

I wish you nothing but the best going forward.

I never saw myself posting on this site after years of depression and regret, but I’m glad you made this post because I can also say the same about Dr. Diep and his work. I also fell in the same hole as you did. I made a post of my journey with Dr. Diep on this site but never followed through because I fell into a depressed state where I felt I did not see any progress.

For my situation, I previously had 2 failed FUT procedures done but great laxity on my scalp. Initially we agreed to go into my existing scar (which started behind my ear and into the other) and close it up. Just like yourself, I was pretty drugged up and later noticed during the procedure that he started extend the laceration (without informing me) which now goes from temple to temple. I freaked out and he told me not to worry because of his “tricho” closure will heal nicely. Now I have a very elongated and absurdly 1-inch wide scar and a tight scalp that I have to live with for the rest of my life! I also had subpar results on my hairline which looks very similar to yours.

My last and only hope has just begun where I just had another HT done 3 months ago in LA. This surgeon is truly my last resort into hopefully fixing what Dr. Diep ruined. I’m on my 3.5 month mark and had 1400 grafts placed in via FUE into my scar using beard and head hair and approximately 1200 FUE to put density on my hairline. I also just started taking finasteride last week and hoping to achieve great results.

I’ve been a slave to concealers and fibers and I just want this nightmare to end and I hope it does for you too. The change in my lifestyle because of this mess completely changed the outgoing person that I once was. After what I’ve been through with 3 failed HT’s I find it hard to want to document my 4th one because I don’t want to give myself any false hope again. But I do wish the best of luck to you and everyone else out there. It was my mistake as a young and vulnerable person to fall into the trap of the hair industry. If I could start all over, I would’ve just tried finasteride at most and accept my fate of being bald if nothing worked.

I just had a surgery with John diep also and it's seems like it's starting off poorly. I will make a thread to detail the events with pics after I have a consultation with him November 1st to give him a chance to explain some of my concerns and I have a laundry list of them. They include
1.havaresting outsize of safe donor zone
2.the pattern at which he harvested and why. One temple has extractions the other doesn't. I asked him to stay behind the ears if possible because that's where I fade their I showed him a pic of my hair on how I wear it freshly cut. Now i currently have noticeably 3 inch patch that look like my brain one side of my head looks horrible in person.the other side looks fine. If he just did the other side the same i would be marginally ok with donor atm .(hopefully gets flatter/better only 10 days post)
THIS IS MY #1 consern this disfigured looking golf ball texture brain texture skin right on right temple arch around ear prolly 1.5 cm wide and 3 to 4 inches long. Idk if he overharvested area or shock loss with overharvest or whatever but it's horrible looking in person.
3.he says he uses .8 to 1mm punch but when I asked the nurse what range did they use on me (i pointed out i wanted a methodical approach like .8 for singles ect)not 1mm across the board and i offered to pay extra for the time because with jet black hair and fair skin i felt alil more at risk for noticeable scarring) she said 1mm
4.angles of the temple closure point is off doesn't flow with native hair
5. Tech on the left more exp than tech on the right and in post op pics angle seem to break on that side
6.not open not comforable askiing stuff poor bedside manner poor communication with staff and him sometimes. I texted him a pic(notocable line at hairline only on one side) and concern after the operation and it came off like I was bothering him( office was closed and I texted his emergency number I didn't know if I needed to come back in to get it fixed before I left next day). I call office no answer leave message no return call. I just called today about issue with temple she said send photos Well see if they get back to me
7. Huge donor holes post op compared to other doctors.
8. The whole presurgery felt rushed and unplanned not as methodically as I would have assume. We operated at 630 I was asleep he was done at 1 which extractions and incisions. I was asleep but gf waited in waiting room.
9. Small issue they booked my surgery on a sat and I knew you should book 2 nights because next day get hair wash. Never once did they tell me they are close Sunday's? So I would have to book til Monday to get shown how to wash hair properly esp in reciptiant area. People i came with had to get back to work monday so couldnt stay. But why wouldn't they remind me you are closed sunday. So in the end i couldnt wash the area til day 4 so it got all crusted and created cracks started at day 6.
10.EVERY POST OP CONSERN I HAVE NOW COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED I DISCUSSED WITH HIM VIA 2x PHONE OR EMAIL TO OFFICE(I literally sent a list with bullet points requesting what i wanted and why but would like to get that to be happy unless absolutely necessary with his experience to override so far I am disappointed and it so early I havnt even seen how the front will come out yet)
I didn't want to say anything til I gave him a chance to explain but couldn't not type what im feeling when I seen other poster bump this thread to help inform potential customers.
Ill repost in my own log the answer to the questions I can get from him and in here

Having said all that maybe theirs good explanations for my concerns and in the end im happy with a great result and issue I feel are important now get better with time or don't materialize way I think.
I literally listed in email bullet points and in phone calls what I wanted unless he has to override it with his experiance.
