Default How do Sulfate, Silicone, Alcohol, NaCl affect hair and scalp?

I read lots of article and paper about harmfull chemicals. The most of those say that Sulfate,NaCl and Silicon cause hair loss, make hair growth slow.
I checked my shampoo. I contains the mentioned chemical. By the way i have serious hair loss problem. What do you think?

Which chemical? Many of these chemicals are harmful in large quantities, but only exist in very small amounts in shampoos.

Default Amount of Sulfate in shampoo is %30 weight

I learned that Sulfate amount is very very huge average %30 in shampoo. this makes sulfate very harmfull. I decided to buy sulfate free shampoo two months ago. When i wash my hairi i noticed that Foam is very different and my hair isnt dry.

Hi Adeline,

The hair is sensitive to chemicals on a topical level if the amounts are large enough. It is unlikely to have such amounts in a shampoo. If you feel you have a serious hair loss problem it is best addressed by a medical professional. A five step approach to women's hair loss as described by Dr. Parsa Mohebi, a recommended physician on this network. Consult with a specialist as soon as possible to have your concerns addressed.

All the Best, Michael

Default Thank you

Thank you for your kind suggestion. First of all, i would like to use the natural based products and try to reduce the stress. If i dont get any results from my aproach, i may apply the doctor. But after using my natural hair products, my problems seem to decrease. I use pure argan oil and sulfate,silicon,alcohol free shampoo.

Hello finder16;

No worries, that's what the forum is for. I hope your natural treatments are helping to your satisfaction. I am a 'green' friendly person at a lot of levels. So all the best with it, Michael

Hello finder16,

I am curious to here your naturopathic approach is working as it been a few months. As a patient advocate I am always interested in learning ways that people are addressing their hair loss. Is your formulation still have the same effect? Is it generating new growth? Or is it inhibiting further hair loss? I am really looking forward to your answers. All the Best, Michael
