Over the last several years, over 51 lawsuits have been filed against Merck Phamaceuticals, maker of the popular hair loss drug Propecia (finasteride). Individuals filing these lawsuits claim that the drug causes irreversible sexual dysfunction and also assert that Merck did not adequately warn patients about the potential side effects.
Recently, Merck requested that all 51 of these cases be consolidated into one class-action lawsuit and moved to proceedings in the state of New Jersey. What does this mean for Propecia? Do the potential side effects need to be reexamined and clearly labeled on prescription bottles? To review the ongoing situation, please see the report at our popular Hair Loss Q & A Blog: Federal Consolidation of Lawsuits Against Hair Loss Drug Propecia (Finasteride)
