Default Propecia Website Taken Down

It seems the Merck's official Propecia website is offline and has been for some time. Visiting www.propecia.com yields the following statements...

"Thank you for visiting propecia.com. This Web site is not currently available."

and...

"You are encouraged to report negative side effects of prescription drugs to the FDA.
Visit www.fda.gov/medwatch, or call 1-800-FDA-1088."

The Proscar site offers a similar landing page.

With all of the negative publicity finasteride has been receiving lately, it makes one wonder why these pages have been taken down.

That is rather fishy David. All of Merck's other drug websites are up and running. It's just the Propecia/Proscar site.

My guess is that given the pending suit, Merck took the site down to not give plaintiffs attorneys any further ammunition. The site probably contained lots of side effect and warnings info and it seems that the case is about these very issues. Still as a propecia User, this isn't reassuring.

Well. When there are clear dangers and sometimes permanent damage from the use of propecia this isn't surprising. Oh and when you put out fraudulent studies to sell your own product.

It actually amazes me that people bought into these MERCK Studies. No one should ever trust a study done on a product by its own company.

Looks like while the Propecia site was pulled another one was
just launched by a law firm involved in the class action suit.

Propecia Sexual Side Effects Website Launched by Hissey Kientz, LLP Law Firm

Thus far I have overcome any side effects that I experienced early on
and continue to take 1mg Propecia every day. I hope I can continue
to do so. If finasteride were ever pulled off the market lots of us
would be in deep dodoo attempting to maintain the hair we have.

That is disturbing. If they were confident in their product, they would not take down their website even with pending lawsuits. Though I have taken it for almost a year now, and only had very mild side effects for about a couple of weeks, I still have doubts about whether or not it is safe.

This is confusing the hell out of me. I am thinking about doing a repair and was told that I should probably be taking Propecia. The thought of permanent side effects from the drug is sobering to say the least. I understand that on the warning label Merck had in Europe they warned of permanent sexual side effects yet they did not include that warning for America. The fact that the website is still down is very disconcerting and I really don't know what to think.

I take Finasteride daily, and even take the much stronger Avodart daily (I know it's probably redundant taking the Fin, but I don't want my system to go without it). My sex drive is as good as it's ever been. Everyones body is different.
