This military man initially came for FUE. Based on his potential need for future hair, and our discussion about scars and consistency of results, he chose strip.
We did a smallish strip case and pictures are shown. He was in town this weekend and stopped by for pictures. His occupation in the armed services requires the wearing of a helmet and intermittent significant pressure on his scalp. He did extrude a couple of deep sutures, yet at this point, even with the helmet and pressure, his scar is tough to find. I’ll plan to see him next June at the 1 year mark. Dr. Lindsey McLean VA

The work looks great..was the patient in much pain when the sutures extruded?

I don't think so, generally its just a nuisance.. This occurs in about 10% of people that I put deep sutures in, whether for facelifts, hair, mole removals etc. The unique thing in this guy is that he had to wear a helmet which may have exacerbated the discomfort or even encouraged the extrusion...and he was controlling a 40 million dollar machine at the time.
Fortunately all turned out well, and I still strongly believe that deep suturing improves scar results and the improvement justifies the extrusion occurance. Dr. Lindsey McLean VA
