Default Eliminating "Russian Bride" Spammers and Remembering Your Login Credentials

Dear members and guests,

Over the last few months, we've been working diligently with a new programming firm on upgrades, fixes and enhancements to our community. Primarily, we've been working on eliminating "Russian bride" spammers and fixing the issues that prevented users from staying logged in using the "remember me" feature. Below I've described the details of these recent enhancements.

Eliminating Russian Bride Spammers

Since this community was upgraded into a new and improved forum with a robust social network, we've been inundated by "Russian Bride" spammers joining our community and sending messages to as many of our members as possible. After we restricted brand new users from sending private messages until we could manually moderate them, they started posting public comments on user's profiles instead. Unfortunately, the current software had no way of restricting new users from posting comments initially. However, after working with our programmers, we were able to implement a system to eliminate spammers from being able to have any direct contact with members until the administrators of this community could manually verify each user is legitimate.

This semi-automated process has worked wonders so far. The only downside is that legitimate members won't be able to have any direct contact with members until we manually move them into the appropriate group. New members however, will be able to post on the forum immediately without any intervention.

Let's wave a warm goodbye to the Russian bride spammers of the world once and for all :-).

Remembering Your Login Credentials

While this community seemed to remember some user's login credentials upon login and selecting "remember me", some members had to login each and every time they visited our community. We believe we've now finally fixed this problem for all users.

The "remember me" feature allows each member to stay logged in after an initial successful login per computer and browser. This means that if you visit our community from a different computer or browser type (i.e Firefox verses Internet Explorer), you will have to login and click "remember me" again.

In order for the above to work, each browser you use must allow "cookies". When you click "remember me", an internet cookie is downloaded onto your computer's hard drive and provides a token for that browser to automatically log you into the community without having to re-enter your credentials. If cookies are not enabled, this feature will not work for you.

Since it's virtually impossible to test everybody's login credentials and computer settings, if you are still having issues being remembered by this community, please contact me at help@hairtransplantnetwork.com and provide me with the following information:

1. Your operating system (Windows, MAC, etc.),
2. The browser type(s) you are having problems with (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Google Chrome, etc.)
3. Whether or not cookies have been enabled
4. Your location (City, State, Province, Country, etc.)
5. Whether or not you're using a mobile device to connect to the internet

We hope these enhancements will make this community more convenient for you to use and your inbox free of Russian bride solicitations and spam!

Best wishes,

Bill

I was having the login problem up until and including today. I'll see if it's fixed tomorrow when under usual circumstances I would need to login again.

As for the Russian bride spammers, I guess I was lucky. I never had any of that nonsense sent to me.

Perhaps there can be a permanent thread for new users to post to and request that they be moved to the unmoderated group. That's if it's a problem.

Matt,

I'd appreciate it if you could send me the information I've asked for above if you'd like us to investigate your login issues. The problem may be related specifically to your computer but if not, the information you send me could help other members who may be experiencing the same problem.

Best wishes,

Bill
