Hello Guys,

Thanks for the great forum. I have been a silent reader and learnt a lot of information here.

Here is my story.

I am from INDIA, (Hyderabad) and had Laser HT done from Dr. Ashok back in 2000.I think it is Laser HT and don't know how many graft I got.

I live in CA now and one of my colleague got HT and I was impressed with the quality and result. I had an online consultation and was told me that I would need at least 8000 graft to cover the whole area.

He suggested I use Body Hair as my donor area may not have those many grafts. I have told him that I am not interested in Body hair as the technique is yet to be proved. Also, I wanted to go with the STRIP method than Fuse method, due to the cost.

I am planning on going for a HT for about 3000 + graft to cover frontal area.

please view my album and give me your suggestions and comments.

My Album

Thanks

Good choice about the BHT thing. I'd rather wait and get a sure result than an "IF" result.

You do have a very large area to cover, so I can see why someone would suggest looking at body hair if you are trying to get coverage everywhere. If you're willing to leave the crown alone, then 3000 in the frontal 1/2 is a good idea.

If BHT ever improves, you might then be able to go for another session with 1000 or so strip from your donor area on your head mixed with a lot of body hair.

You need as many grafts as you can possibly get.
Most likely in your case a combo of strip and FUE is going to get you anywhere 5000-7000 grafts.

Welcome to our community.

You are welcome to participate in our community however, given legal concerns with Dr. ****** ****** on the advise of our attorney we do not host any posts on our forum that reference him.

Therefore, I have removed reference to him in your post. I have also locked your photo album thread.

Bill,

Thanks for the info and I will not reffer the doctor any more.

I just wanted to share my current pics and get experts opinion on my best possible options.

Do you think i can benifit from Propecia and Rogane usage to stop loosing more hair in the crown area and to regrow some in crown?

Given the area of converage I need, should I go with conservative hair line and thin coverage?

Since this is my second procedure, I am afraid I may not get many grafs in the donor area. I am hoping to increase my laxity and get alteast 3000 grafts and conver as much ara as possible.

Do you guys have any suggestions on using 2000 on front and 1000 in crown?.

Thanks a lot guys

software,

Thank you for understanding.

Based on your level of hair loss - you are going to have to develop very realistic expectations. Density or coverage will have to be sacrificed. You appear to be an advanced Norwood 6 borderlining on seven. At these advanced stages - in many cases, there is less donor hair available as you suggested.

To help you develop realistic expectations, I recommend that you click here to view patient before/after photos of those with your level of hair loss that have undergone hair transplant surgery.

I too had advanced hair loss close to a NW6 however, the sides of my hair didn't recess as far.

Propecia may do a good job at stopping your hair loss from progressing any further. In more rare cases it may even regrowh some hair. Combining Propecia and Rogaine are the best chance you will have medically at regrowing any hair - but even then, realistic expectations are important - they are not miracle cures.

I hope this helps.

Bill
