Mick,

This is some nice ultra-refined work.

3345 grafts will give him decent coverage from the pictures and some density as well. He may have to return for some more density later, depending on his goals.

Do you know approximately how many FU/sq cm any of the areas will be?

Bill

Bill,
Thanks for the comments. From what he was trying to achieve he will probably leave things for a year or two and see what happens with the rest of his hair, he would not consider meds. There was approx. 65 cm2 but the density per sq cm was higher at the front and tapered back.

Mick,

This is another example of some very refined work. It looks great immediately post op. I think that the patient will be quite satisfied with the change that will take place. Not that it is a big deal but it really doesn't look like 65FU/cm2. That would be quite dense and would have chewed up a lot of grafts in the frontal region with little to spare elsewhere. Might want to check on figures as it appears like it is more in the 40ish range. Just my opinion but these photos are pretty clear and you can almost count them.

Mick,

Not trying to make a big deal out of this but your last message confused me even more. What are we talking about exactly?

-density of recipient area in FU?
-density of recipient area in hairs?
-density of the donor area?
-amount of recipient area covered?

Unless I am missing something it doesn't look like 75Fu/cm2 transplanted in the hairline of recipient area? Don't get me wrong the work is awesome and I could care less about all the numbers but it is for the benefit of the lesser educated that read this forum.

Thanks

There is a record that has a line that says something like "this is a land of confusion" and i am responsible for it.
Sorry for creating the misunderstanding.
The area of baldness which was covered was approx. 75cm
amount of recipient area covered

Hope that clears that one and i read it again and i do need to be clearer.

Thanks,
Mick

Mick,

So then one could safely say that the AVERAGE density in FU per square CM was about 44.6 follicular unit grafts per sq cm.

Of course, being that you did a fade from the front to the back, the numbers in the front should exceed this while the numbers in the back should be lower.

Sound about right?

I don't want to give people the impression that results should be measured by the numbers so much as to just get a feel for where this patient might be.

In fact, I've addressed this in the following hair loss weblog.
