The only active ingredient in scalpmed is minoxodil which can be bought at a MUCH cheaper price. Unfortunately, Scalpmed does what many other "SCAM" companies do. They market an extremely expensive product that contains one active FDA approved ingredient (minoxodil) and sell it as if it's the cure for hairloss.

The reason your friend regrew hair is because minoxodil is FDA approved for safety and efficacy in maintaining and possibly regrowing some hair.

Do yourself a favor and tell your friend to buy straight minoxodil because it's the only ingredient in Scalpmed that works.

The only other FDA approved drug to combat hairloss is finasteride, which personally, I think is the most important one to use. Combining finasteride (1mg) taken orally in form of a pill once a day with minoxodil can be a powerful combination to potentially regrow hair, or at LEAST keep the hair you have.

I hope this helps.

I personally have tried Scalpmed for more than 2 months already and I regret it 100%. When I first saw it on TV, I was so convinced that it would work. I hesitated a little when I went online and saw how expensive it was, but bought it anyway. Like I saw, it's been over 2 months and I see no result whatsoever. In fact, I seemed to have lost more hair. The cortex enlarger hairspray that comes with it is totally useless. I don't find my hair getting any thicker as it claims it would.

Does anyone have a better product they can recommend? I am thinking of trying Dr. Lee's products.

Great posts, guys. I was so turned off by Scalpmed that I didn't even know it contained Minox...........thanks for the tip. Too bad they're making tons off of people that could buy the effective product (Minox) off the shelf at Walmart for much cheaper.

tiffany_07- I don't know of any other products for women but I encourage you to do some research. You may want to see a dermatologist to see exactly why your hair is thinning.

Tiffany,

Unfortunately, many of us, including myself, have been duped by the many scams out there. These infomercials speak wonders to our emotional side but don't speak accurately about their product. IMO, these marketing tactics should be illegal because of how unethical they are...yet, somehow they are allowed to continue. So I feel your pain and unfortunately, I too lost a lot of ground when I could have been using finasteride and minoxodil.

For women, unfortunately, at this time, I'm not too knowledgable on the different products that actually could work for women...though I do believe they have a Rogaine for women...worth checking out - same active ingredient that is in Scalpmed for a fraction of the price.

The problem is that even though there are SOME things that do work a little bit, it is very rare that any medication works wonders for regrowing hair. There are still no miracle cures no matter how much a product is hyped. Depending on your situation, you may want to research and consult with a coalition HT doc to see if they can help create a long term strategic plan for you to restore your hair. You MAY or MAY NOT be a candidate for HT...but it's worth looking into.

Here is a link to the coalition docs: http://www.hairlosslearningcenter.org/hair-loss-content...s/our_physicians.asp

You will also want to use the "find" feature of this forum to look for other women who have had HTs and what they have done to combat hairloss.

I hope this helps

Bill

Hairbank,

Though I too was turned off by it...I felt compelled to watch the commercial (even though it made me sick knowing it was a scam) so that I was educated enough about it so I could turn people away from it with evidence that it's a scam if it was ever asked.

My GOAL in life is to become the most hated individual by hair loss treatment scam marketing companies

Thanks Bill for the information and kind words. I feel really foolish for believing in scalpmed... I actually have seen a couple of dermatologists about my hair loss problem but didn't get much help.

I contacted Dr. Richard Lee, do you know anything about him? I read about him from the forums and I emailed him and he seems to be quite professional.

No, I don't think I will consider HT. I'm not at that point where I need it yet.

Tiffany,

Though I don't know anything about him directly, from what I have seen/read, Dr. Lee does seem to advocate "the right stuff" for hair loss treatments. He supports minoxodil, Propecia, and Nizoral 2% shampoo.

Has he contacted you back yet? Let me know how that goes.
