49 year old man with a NW4v wanting to restore his hair in 2 stages with the goal of someday obtaining "Rock Star" hair. With the favorable hair characteristics of medium/coarse caliber with a wave, we were able to exceed his expectations within 5.5 months after his second TP, combine total 3743.

Dr. Arocha,

Looks great. But 3743 grafts seems like a lot for someone with this much hair to begin with.

Do you have any immediately postoperative pictures you can share with us so we can see where all the grafts were placed?

Thanks,

Bill

Agree with Bill. He does not look like a NW 4 to begin with.

Thank you Dewayne, latinlotus, and Bill for your kind comments regarding this patient's hair restoration outcome. He is a highend hair stylist and of course the way his hair looks is very important on a personal and professional level.

He is more accurately a Norwood 4V(P), because the marked recession of his temporal peaks has progressed to the point where the recession is parallel to the sideburn line.
Latinlotus, this is a Norwood IV because the frontal and frontotemporal recession is more marked than a Norwood III, but more importantly because of the vertex involvement. In type IV , these areas of involvement are seperated by a bridge of moderately dense hair that joins the fully haired fringe on each side of the head.

Looks more like a 3V to be honest Doc. I too wonder where all the hair was transplanted, but agree he looks better.

Hi Guys,
Thanks for all your questions. This nice fellow has very good hair characteristics that included medium/coarse caliber hair and the presence of a curl, but his foundations were crumbling. Note the photo titled "Thinning Bridge" which features a neon green ellipse, this is the bridge that marks the difference between a Norwood IV and V. While present it is thinning and the progressive retreat of the fringes in the frontotemporal areas and the crown is rendering it progressively thinner. Note the presence of much miniaturized hairs in the frontotemporal advancing fronts. I should have combed his curls out of the way to make it clearer for you, but over 3 years ago when these pics were taken , they were taken for my eyes only.
