This 43 year old man was referred by a local plastic surgeon for hair transplantation. His concerns were typical of our patients. He desired filling in of his frontal "triangles" without getting a "hair transplanted look". We discussed the things he had going for him"???good hair/skin match, thick hairs, full donor region, and only a slightly high hairline. He chose to proceed with a 2500 true follicular unit transplant and did great.
As requested by Bill, I have included a number of pictures showing strip harvesting, trichophytic closure with suture technique (although we often use staple technique as well), a close-up of the closure, end of the day pictures, and 7 day postop pictures. Additionally, our staff uses exclusively microscopic dissection and currently we have 5 Mantis scopes. The blades we use for slit creation are custom made and are 0.7mm wide allowing for DENSE PACKING. Also shown is a close-up of his follicular units. In some cases, his 3 unit grafts were singled to allow more density at the hairline itself. This varies from patient to patient in our practice based on need, and donor supply characteristics. Lastly, despite our shaving a bit of the existing frontal region, at 1 week, he can pass without appearing to have been shaved anywhere, yet his final result will be better in our hands as we can pack more densely into the existing hairline with conservative shaving. Older????
Thanatopsis, who are you calling old. I'm 43 too. That's just getting to the prime of life man. Otherwise your assessment of him being a great candidate is right on. Dr. Lindsey, RESTON VA

Hah, no disagreement from my corner; 40 is the new 30 from what I understand.
