Here are Ballonman's 5 month post op photos of scar repair using 270 FUEs. Hairs are still thin and immature, but the benefits are obvious already.

Looks very Good Dr Feller. Great Work!

Very impressive if FUE grafts will grow in scar tissue they will grow anywhere.

So you must be very excited about these results considering the difficulty in general of survival of scar grafting.

Great stuff, Dr Fellar! It is amazing how few grafts it takes to significantly break up a scar, even to the point that the (trained) eye almost does not recognize it as a scar any more (passes as a somewhat thinned area). I'm about 3 months post strip, had a handful of FU's put in a scar behind my ear from a previous procedure and am showing great results as well (by DR McClellan). The handful I have a really breaking up the scar too. There's no doubt that I will eventually have more scars refined this way (but by FUE).

GREAT STUFF!!!

Yes Baldbozo, I am very optimistic about FUE since seeing results of my own patients. The successful growth in the scar of Balloonman has really encouraged me and I am stepping up my FUE work an order of magnitude at this point.

There are many patients out there who are in the same or even worse position than Ballonman was and it is extremely satisfying to be able to offer them cosmetically useful help rather than just turning them away as I've done for the past 10 or so years.

I always said to BM that I thought he would get 50%+ growth in the scar tissue. This is very promising for many of us wanting to do this in the future. Good luck to BM in his growth...

I see the loudmouths on other sites are already chiming in about these photos. I will make an effort to link the actual photo of the FUE's planted in the scar immediately post op. The reason I want to do this is to show where the actual grafts were planted and to asess how many grew and exactly where they grew.

I said many times before that MATURE scars older than 2 or 3 years will produce a better yield than a younger scar. Based on the above photos, I do not know exactly how many grafts grew, what the percentages are or how much hair was present or dormant prior to the FUE surgery.

If someone has the time or desire to count how many hairs are actually growing from within the scar itself, we can make a better determination of percentage of yield. I would like to know myself and may do so in photoshop to get a final count.

Balloonman why don't you ever post photos of your hair transplant. I'd like to see your results.

BM

Long time no speak. I still haven't had my tissue expansion (still saving up) but you may have read mm22's post in another thread. He reduced a 15mm wide scar (1 inch in places) to 2mm wide by a plastic surgeon who removed muscle attached to the skull and sutured the skin to this (I think) and then excised the donor scar thus taking more tension off the incision line when healing and placing the tension on the muscle beneath the scalp.

Have you ever heard/tried this technique? It may be just what I need because I have never had a tight scalp or poor laxity. I just have skin that is VERY prone to stretch under any kind of tension. Remove the tension and I should be fine...
