A patient of Dr. Beehners recently asked me to upload his photos and post them on this discussion forum. His comments to me in an email follow his photos.

"These pictures were taken before my first HT in March, 2001 - Dr. Beehner placed about 850 FU's and mini's during this procedure, and at 8 months growth. The very tiny dots are the 1,230 FU's placed from the second procedure on 11/2/2001 and the pictures are 6 days after that HT.

I think Dr. Beehner is an excellent surgeon that is doing great work. You probably don't remember, but I spoke to you on the phone about a year ago to get your recommendation and went with him based on the recommendation. I'm sure glad I did!

Heres my info... first off, please make sure they know when you post the after pictures that the silver or shiny areas on my head are not there, but rather something that I am doing wrong with the camera. I had the first HT on 3/15/2001, 8 months ago. I got approximately 850 micro and mini grafts throughout the front, temples and top (minis on the top). The procedure took about 4 hours and there were no complications. Dr. Beehners staff (3 techs working at once) really know what they are doing. Based on info supplied by other posters I would say recovery was fairly routine. The hairs fell out after about 10 days, and growth started about 4 months after surgery. The pictures show the excellent hairline and coverage I achieved with this 1st session (pictures are 8 months post op). The grafts had a better than 97 % growth rate.

The second HT was on 11/2/2001, 7 days ago. This was for 1,230 all follicular units. Dr. Beehner did additional fill in for the temple, hairline and top. He went all the way to the center of my head for anticipated future hair loss. He advised me that there were about 3,700 hairs in the 1,230 transplants. Interestingly enough the surgery took the same amount of time as the first one, 4 hours. Once again nothing but the highest praise for his staff. Both courteous and professional. The procedure went well with no complications.

The results of this HT have been astounding to me! This time I used Grafcyte on my head every hour and washed my hair with the grafcyte shampoo every night. By day 4 the scabs began falling off with the lightest rubbing. By day 5 the scabs were all gone, and the redness on my scalp was noticeably less. By day 6 the redness was almost completely gone (see photos) and by day 7 the redness is 100% gone! I did not have to do anything to conceal the HT as no one at work even knew I had it. Their is considerably less numbness this time compared to the first one as well. I don't know if this remarkable recovery is a result of using grafcyte, but I am extremely pleased with the results.

Financially this will probably be my last HT. Both Dr. Beehner and Dr. Bernstein who I also consulted with had recommended three for total fullness, bit I think this one will be acceptable (unless I come up with more money in the future :-) ). I am very satisfied with the look from the first session of 850 and this 1,230 more should really make a big difference. Please remember that the pictures show the results of the first HT at 8 months. It's really hard for you to see the small incisions from the second HT that are in there because the redness is almost completely gone making it difficult to spot them. Also Dr. Beehner's fee for the procedures was CONSIDERABLY less than any other surgeon (in the $4.00 per graft range) that I ckecked on.

I know the Beehner bashers don't like to hear this, but I am totally and completely satisfied with my hairline and the quality of work performed by Dr. Beehner and his top notch staff. I highly recommend him for people who want top notch results at a reasonable and affordable price.
