Bill et al:
Here is another patient that just recently posted a weblog (Michael). He asked me to post his photos . Objective: Create a soft hairline transition with central bulk density. Cover the crown as well. Challenges: Limited budget for 1200 grafts. Set expectations for thinner look , softer hairline transition. Photos: No professional shoots to keep lighting angles etc. consistent Results: See Michaels Weblog. Proc: 2267 FU ( I gave him a bit more than he expected)

Josh:
You are correct in your understanding. He was on a limited financial budget and I set a not to exceed price, not a not to exceed graft limit. The goal was to meet his objective.

Dr. Mejia,
Once again, you have created an excellent photo album displaying before, immediately post op, and after pictures in a number of angles that really help our members get an accurate understanding of the result. These results look really nice for only 2267 grafts. I really like the temple point reconstruction as well - very nice natural blend. Can you tell us what size instruments you use to make recipient incisions? It appears that the incisions at the temple are larger than those created on top. I'd also love to see some of examples of your larger sessions of over 2500 grafts and use of dense packing when you have a chance. Best wishes, Bill

Dr, do you use needles to make the recipient sites?
Thanks for sharing your patient results with us.... this patient possesses ideal characteristics for successful transplantation: good donor, good hair with some wave, high lateral humps(sides of the head) and only moderate loss in the crown area. I believe another 2500 grafts would complete a reversal for him and truly gain the illusion of density. This is a nice result and sets the patient up for a density session for #2, but still, the first procedure stands alone. Thanks Doctor, Jason

Do the incisions appear bigger because they are spread out over a larger area with the limited number of grafts? To me the incisions look a little bigger than usual. For only 2,267 got some nice coverage.

Arrie:
The incision in this patient was a 20 g solid core needle in the hairline and Cut to size blades of 1mm behind the hairline as well as sp 88 1 mm blades. We used a 1.2mm blade for some of the larger double follicular units in the midzone area.A 4 or 5 haired double follicular unit in a 1.2mm is larger than a two haired graft in a 0.8 mm. That is obvious. Therefore, the incisions are not necessarily larger than usual. They are sized according to the graft and the chubbiness and whether you are trying to get more hairs per graft. Sizes between 0.6 and 1.2 are customary. It just depends on the caliber and thickness of the graft and the associated chubbiness. The B spot can probably send you a private mail and tell you what size blade was used in your case and it will likely be in the above range. Chucky: Yes he did return for a second treatment just recently for added density in the hairline.Yes he was thrilled. View his blog. IN the second procedure , I used a 0.7 mm Cut to size blade in the hairline and 0.9mm behind as well as 1.1 and 1.2 for the double follicular units in the midzone.
