Im far, far from an expert but from what I understand: Yes they are the same drug... propecia is 1mg of finasteride (the active ingrediant) and proscar is 5mg so people just split the pill into 1/4's.
I got my proscar w/out a script from planethealthstore.com and it comes from Argentina (but manufactured in England). Its been said on this board that its not wise to get your meds from overseas but I still dont understand why, but it concerns me enough to where I want to get a legit prescription from a Dr and just get it filled here in the USA. |

Correct Jefff-
Propecia and Proscar are the same drug, Finasteride, just different sized pills. Most opt to quarter Proscar to save money. It can be quite a savings. As for purchasing online..............the reason I would be hesitant to order overseas is due to a known issue of consistency of meds. Maybe you're getting what you're paying for, maybe not. Who knows!! When you purchase from a Walmart pharmacy, Costco, Walgreens.....etc., you're guaranteed meds are FDA approved and manufactured by a FDA approved company like MERCK. Many order overseas to avoid the script.............initially I was going to do the same. After researching and feeling somewhat uneasy about the issue I listed above, I decided paying for an annual visit for the GP would be well worth it. In my case, I just called the Doc from my first HT who gave me the script for free.
