A "forelock" pattern is simply one in which the front-central area of the bald scalp is the main goal to make strong and frame the face. Because the patient's bald area is so large and wide, a gradient has to be created, which blurs the space between the side fringes and the more central forelock area. It is an artistic attempt to re-create a stage of hair loss that many men naturally pass through. Thus it does not draw attention to itself as appearing unnatural. It is used when there is not enough donor hair to fill in the entire top bald area.

Hi Doctor Beehner.

I missed this pot of yours which is good to see people getting HTs with realistic expectations, not expcting a full hairline etc.

Do you have any frontal face on pictures to show off the effect to its fullness.

Thanks.

Great Post!

Young guys take note, if you end up class 6-7, you would be sorry if you had front loaded a low hairline at age 20. Be wise and save some donor for later just in case, and choose a conservative hairline if you think you may be headed NW 6-7.

Great natural work Doctor Beehner with the limited resources.

Looks good for sure. I guess I never think about 72 year olds wanting to restore their hair, but I guess this problem is one for the ages so to speak.

I read about Dr. Beehner's "forelock only" approach in a copy of our industry magazine "The Forum" years ago and was impressed. I have incorporated many of the lessons he discusses on how to handle cases of extreme baldness with limited donor area using the forelock approach. These discussions have served me and my severely balding patients very well.

Every area of hair transplantation starts with one doctor who identifies a challenge and then finds a way to meet it. The rest of us follow with the secure knowledge that it can be done. Many of us owe a debt to Dr. Beehner for his forelock work.

Well done Dr. Beehner.
Thank you.

I couldn't agree more.
Thank you Dr. Beehner.
