This patient visited us two years after we performed an 1,800 graft procedure on the first 1.5 inches of scalp- including his hairline. He had been to several other HT doctors for consultation who only recommended about 800 grafts for that small area due to "vascular" concerns. He went with us and was happy to report that not only was this not the case, but that his hair never entered the "sleep phase", a rare but welcome occurance. Clearly no vasuclar issues here.

He is an excellent example of the need to consistently create and implant ultra refined grafts in great numbers. Any lower density and he would have had a stalky and relatively unnatural look in my opinion. As it is now, 2 years later, he does not need to touch his hairline anymore.

Fortunately, he still had his bridge hair at the time (you can see in one of the before photos how he used to sweep it down to look like a hairline), so we only needed to pack 1,800 grafts. But if he didn't have that top hair, he would have needed at least 3,500 grafts or more.

Now that he is begin to lose his bridge hair and crown hair he is scheduled to do 3,500 grafts,or more, from behind the hairline to the crown.

His visit is particularly timely since the discussion of ultra-megasessions and dense packing is part of the present dialog.

At the time of his surgery we had just started to pack large numbers of ultra refined grafts into smaller areas of scalp to produce the most natural and dense look.

In his case, it took 1,800 grafts packed into a realatively small area of scalp to achieve the goal. Imagine how it would look if we put just 800 or 1,000 grafts into this area using non-refined techniques. Then imagine, i

Alan,

Kudos to you and the patient on this excellent example of why the ultra refined techniques that enable dense packing and quick healing are superior to standard follicular unit grafting.

Welcome Duke.
2 major mistakes made when considering a HT: Money and Geography. Never limit yourself in either way, or you might end up not so happy, and worse off then when you start.
Start a new thread, with the heading "New to the site and looking for INFO" and many of the members here will be glad to help.
Glad to have you, and hope this site helps you out as much as it has helped me.

Thanks Michael...
I've been watching your progress. Congratulations, but you are not finished yet. At ten months you have 90% of the transplants grown, but you still have until 14 months for the caliber of each hair to thicken. Grow well and keep posting photos of your progess.

Looks great! Completely natural and well-proportioned, as is every other example of your work that I've seen -- not the least of which is the one in my bathrom mirror each morning!
