Thank you both B Spot and Dr. Feller for the reply. It does appear that both Doctor and patient know what they are getting themselves into...it was just exactly as said...my initial reaction is "uh oh". BUT, admittedly, there is much to be done yet still and this does not show what the patient will look like in his final stages of his hair restoration process.

LOL about the big head Dr. Feller. I guess this is one time I can be thankful that my head is not that big. Perhaps this last surgery of 3-4K (more if lucky) will be enough to fill me in nicely.

B Spot...thanks for the well wishes on the upcoming surgery. It's approaching fast. One week from tomorrow I will be spending all day in the air traveling to beautiful Vancouver. I'm looking forward to the adventure, but a little nervous with the way airports are. I just hope and pray that everything departs and arrives on time!

Hi

That's a good point.. Does a smaller head generally mean more "bang for your buck" Obviously we are talking if all other varibles are constant such as donor area and the quality of the hair..

It seems like you have less to fill ??

Would have to agree. Not the best example of your work Dr. Feller. 3500 grafts and 10K for a "puff" leaves a bit to be desired.

Mrjb,

Now that I'm thinking more about it...a smaller head also could potentially mean less donor area so it might just even out in the long run, of course, throwing in variables such as density and laxity of the scalp.

judging by what else needs to covered, it seems that he needs at least 3-4 times that amount of grafts. Not sure what to think. The front looks good for his age but I was under impression that with 6-7k one could get decent coverage. Not this guy.

The patient has poor supply for his demand. At least he has new hair in his frontal zone.

I'd have to agree with Spex on this one. The hairline is the most important part and the Dr has got that right. Filling in the middle and back is not such an art and isn't as noticeable to people than the hairline. The patient may have asked for a thick hairline and a not so thick crown.
That's what I asked for and got.

Bill, your hair looks great mate. Good luck with the next one.

In my opinion, I believe that Dr. Feller did the right thing with this patient. There is definitely a lot of area to cover, but the filled in hairline gives the illusion of a fuller head of hair. As previously mentioned, most people will be looking at you head-on so it's important to get the hairline right.

Good work, Dr. Feller!
