the 5% is from the extraction process.....our techs do not transect follicles when they trim them under microscope

The above statement is absolutely true. When you trim and inspect each FU, you can see exactly what type of graft you have from the extraction process. We do not transect the grafts while trimming.

NW4,
The transection rate with strip is getting less and less as well. There are techniques for donor harvesting in recent years which minimizes the transections along the edges to hardly nothing.

Hi Janna, do you recall approx. how many milimeters wide this patient's donor scar was? At what width would you say a scar revision attempt would be superior to fue into the donor scar?

Looks to be healing up very nicely for 9 days post op.

His donor scar was approx 10 cm long by .5cm wide.
If you don't have enough donor supply to adequately fue, then trying to excise it out may be wiser. Some patients whose scar is too low, it's prob best to fue as the donor scar may stretch again.

This is really good and it's nice to see Dr. Shapiro joining the FUE evolution. I like the spacing between the extractions and the fact that your clinic further refines the grafts under microsopes. Way too many FUE clinics omit this very important and crucial step. This was a very responsible, well thought out, and well executed FUE procedure IMO. I look forward to seeing more FUE cases coming out of SMG.
Best of luck,
Dr. Feller

Hi. Janna. It's good to see SMG doing Fue. I wonder when you have the time can you post close up pics of the grafts right after removal and after you trim them side by side? Thanks.
