Hi, turned 33 today. I believe I'm in the very early stages of hair thinning: seeing the scalp on top of my head a bit more depending how the hair lies, and a slightly receding hairline, with more single, stray hairs than there used to be. I was thinking about buying the Nioxin shampoo (not the whole system) to cleanse DHT, and possibly using Procerin tablets. Is this a wise plan of action? Any better shampoos that I can buy at the local salon that I should use? Are the tablets needed? Thank you all for your advice...Rick in NY

Simple answer: No, its not a wise plan of action.

Detailed answer: There are two products that are FDA approved for hair loss, and neither of them are Procerin or Nioxin.

If you are seriously interested in preventing further hair loss, spend your money on stuff that works rather than snake oil, no matter how pretty its packaged. Go get a prescription for propecia, and but some rogaine foam. Use them together. If you need a shampoo, check out Nizoral.

If you need more convincing, stick around. I'm sure other forum members will chime in.

Listen to the EMU!

If your regimen is not involving the BIG 3 , it just isnt good enough.. Stick to what works and you will benefit.
