Dr. Feller,

Your dose of realism is very welcome...I myself haven't seriously considered FUE, but I can see where one would be drawn to it because it looks "easier", at least from a recovery standpoint...no incision, no staples, less Vicodin (hmm, is that a pro or a con...??).

Thanks Ben.

100 isn't a magic number, but it's about the number I can take in about one half hour of intense concentration of FUE.

Taking out fewer than 100, say 10 as you suggest, has already been tried by Dr. Rassman and is called the FOX test (why the "fox" test, I don't know). The problem is that 10 test grafts is just not enough to sample the donor area. One may just be lucky enough to land on the small area that is very conducive to FUE while the rest is terrible. OR, the other way around. The first ten are bad, but the rest are great. This latter problem is more common because the doctor needs to warm up a bit before his FUE success rate begins to climb. If we limited our "go/no go" to a fox text we would be excluding someone who might have been an excellent candidate.

Just to let you guys know that this patient has confirmed he will be coming along to the NYC hair geek meet on June 15th - He will be happy to showcase his results along with many others. RTC, Bushy, PB, ME, Ivango and a few other hopefully. If you are in NY and wish to meet up with actual patients from a varairty of docs then this will be a great chance.

All good

Dr. F-

Usually I would look at a guy at his minimal loss level and ask myself "why would someone like this bother with a procedure??" Especially since I would love to have his hair!

BUT, this result is clearly fantastic and I really feel it made a really good cosmetic difference.

Great job Dr. F!!

Dr Feller - I saw this on HLH as well and commented there as I will here with a simple 'wow'. It is amazing how 1,000 grafts has truly transformed his hairline. It's dense, natural and without any aggressive hairline reduction.

Again - impressive and great work!

Eman,
One thing I've learned in over 15 years of being in the HT field is that hairloss is completely subjective. What bothers one person may not even register in another. That's why there is no "one size fits all" approach in hair transplantation (although the large chains have tried!). Thanks for the kind words.

M
Thank you.
