I have been a long time reader and first time poster. I wanted to tell everyone about the great experience that I had in Ottawa with Dr Rahal. I flew in to Ottawa on Sunday the 24th of June for my procedure on Monday the 25th. This is my second procedure. I had my first transplant a little over 6 months prior to my second procedure. I know that this was very soon, but the future job situation left me with a short time line. My first procedure was with one of the so called "hair mills". I received 2000 grafts in both the crown and frontal areas. The growth was not good and the hair line was placed way to low. I am 32 years old, and heading towards a NW6.

Dr Rahal decided that my family history and future hair loss would not sustain the hair line that the previous doctor placed. He decided that I should place the hair line higher and thicken it up. This would give me a more mature future hairline, one that I could continue to build behind, and one that would not deplete my donor area. He also decided to leave the previously planted hairline in place until a future date. He is then planning on performing a FUE procedure to remove 70% or more of the hairline and replanting. With a short hair cut, this will not look odd.

I cannot stress how professional and how thorough Dr Rahal was when we developed this plan. Unfortunately, I did not do my research the first time, so I was left with a poor result and a low hairline. It is very depressing to look in the mirror with the old results, but I am taking the steps to improve this.

The surgery went well. My final graft count was 3815(2665 in the front 1/3 and 1150 in the area right in front of the crown). The final hair counts were as follow: singles==536, two hairs==2526, three hairs==753.

Dr Rahal's bed side manner and his post op care were the best of any doctor that I have ever had. He checked up on me every day that I was in town. He called my hotel once in the morning and once in the evening and saw me in the afternoon. He drove me home after each visit to his office personally. On my last day, he dropped me off at the airport and ensured that I had everything that I needed for my trip home. The fact that he took this much time with me speaks volumes of his character and his love for his job and his patients.

Sorry this was so long! Pictures are Pre and one day post op.

V-man,

Thanks for posting your experience.

Dr. Rahal is an excellent surgeon and I've been very impressed by his work.

3815 grafts should give you a nice improvement in appearance for sure. Thanks also for providing the hair count breakdowns.

I also viewed your pictures...very typical of what I would expect post op from Dr. Rahal...looks good.

I hope you'll keep us posted with monthly pictures.

Cheers,

Bill

Things look great as typical from Dr. Rahal. Sounds like you have a great plan that should work out well for you.

Yes his technical skills are outstanding but what always amazes me are the stories of how he seems to truly care about his patients. Good stuff from a physician.

Keep us posted how things go.
