Hey guys-
Thanks Spex and Ben for checking in with me, I do appreciate it. I'm a little over the three week mark already, and most of my grafts have jumped ship (or are doing so as I write this up.) It's funny... no matter how much you know it's going to happen, it still isn't easy to watch them go. The photos online don't do justice to how much of a buzzed up looking hairline you have at one week post-op. It really felt great having hair in the front of my head again--even though I knew it was temporary. Otherwise, things seem to be healing up well. The toughest thing by far is that I am experiencing lots of shockloss on the sides of my head and around the donor area. I'm trying not to be neurotic about it, but I'd be lying if I said it wasn't distressing. I feel like the sides of my head are really thin at the moment... I'm applying minoxidil foam (which I was on prior to the surgery) so I'm hoping the sides will recover in the coming months. I also already have a few pimples here and there, which (I think) might be a bit earlier than most people report. Ben... blog looks great...thanks for putting up the pics. I'd certainly be quite happy to have results like yours. Also, I love the blog address. Crown Royal- glad you liked my write-up, hope that it helped. You should feel great about your decision to go to Dr. Feller. You're in good hands. I know your surgery is coming up and the anticipation can be a bit stressful, so if there's any questions I can help with just let me know. Again though, I do agree with the people who say the hardest part is the emotional ride, the surgery itself is fine. I'll keep everyone updated in the coming weeks. |

Caesar08,
I had what I assumed to be some slight shockloss in the donor area as well...given that this was right around the time that I also had serious staple hardware in the same region, I didn't give it too much thought I do not have any just-after incision/staple photos, but I can say that the shockloss (if that's what it was...Dr. Feller also had shaved the area before taking the strip) was completely temporary. Heal well! Remember...starve a cold, feed a fever, give plenty of beer to a hair transplant. At least, that's how I think grandma used to say it. Benjamin |
