I just had 3,000 grafts with Dr. Feller in his Great Neck, NY office and would like to thank him and his staff for a great experience. I honestly thought it would be more difficult than it actually was and must say I was presently surprised how easy it was. Much appreciation to Dr. Feller.

My day started at 7:30am when I met Dr. Feller outside his office. We went in and went over the plan for my transplant. I had met him some time ago for a consultation so we already had a plan. Dr. Feller took many photos and took me to the procedure room to get started. He shaved a small part of the back of my head which was easily covered by the hair above. Then he put me in another room on my stomach and numbed the back. It was MUCH MUCH easier than I thought it would be. Dr. Feller said I numbed very quickly and he took me back to the main room where I was able to sit up like in a regular chair. He drew some more lines and told me jokes the whole time to break the tension. He is a very down to earth man. I think because he had his own hair transplant that he had a good idea how I was feeling. His confidence and series of jokes helped to calm me as did the professional nature of his technicians. A class act.

After removing the strip from the back, none of which I felt, he used staples to close the back. I asked to see it and Dr. Feller gave me two mirrors. It was so clean and much better looking than I imagined it would be. Then the strips went into the microscope room with about 10 technicians to dissect it into grafts. Then Dr. Feller immediately started making slits on the top of my head. It was completely painless.

By 3:00 the procedure was over and Dr. Feller took more photos. I am supposed to visit in 10 days to get the staples out at which time Dr. Feller will take more photos.

I recommend Dr. Feller and his staff very highly and wouldn't hesitate to send my friends and family members to him. I look forward to my new hair and will post photos throughout the coming years.

Congratulations on taking the first step. The results look clean at this point and hopefully you will heal without issues.

One question....for an area of that size and your level of balding, 3000 grafts seems to be a bit low, I would have imagined at least 5000 would have been more appropriate. I am sure you have discussed this with your doctor and are aware further procedures will most likely be needed, depending on your level of anticipated coverage.

JohnS,

Its about the supply meeting the demand - SAFETLY. Not everyone has the donor density, laxity, etc to hit 5000 in one session. The experience of the Doc determines how far that patient should go in one session without jeopardising the session or future sessions.

We would all love to have our cake and eat it with HT's but HT is not an exact science so there is only so far each individual can go per session SAFETLY - EVERYONE wants it all done in one session but the cold reality of it is it can take 2 / 3 sessions to reach the individuals goal. - Then you start to learn all aboutHAIR GREED- now that is a whole new world of fun and games

Samhair - heal and grow well!

I was stating the obvious, just to make sure he was not dissappointed when it matured, but I can see you also agree with the possiblity of further transplants.

Why not let the ht grow out first and then judge whether 3k was enough?
