Following is a testimonial by the Patient:

Between 1989 and 1992 I had several hair transplant procedures using the "punch graft" method. The results were horrible. I had a lot of scarring, the grafts were bumpy and it looked very unnatural (doll's hair). You might ask why I had so many procedures if I was so unhappy with the results. Unfortunately, I got caught in the trap of believing that more procedures would make it look better. Once I stopped, I swore that I would never have any other hair transplants again.

In 2005, I started reading up on the new hair transplant procedures. I did a lot of research both on the procedures and the top surgeons in the field. I came up with 5 surgeons who I believed to be the best. I met with each of them personally (which meant flying to several cities in Canada and the U.S.) and asked them a long list of questions (4 typed pages of questions). I was impressed with each of them and their willingness to answer all my questions and spend as time with me as I wanted. I selected Dr. Ron Shapiro, because he was the best fit for me with respect to what I wanted to achieve and his approach to achieving it.

I had two procedures with Dr. Ron Shapiro. The first (November, 2005) was to remove the old plugs. Dr. Shapiro did this by removing approximately a 1 cm strip from the front part of my scalp. Effectively, he removed the old hairline. This did leave a scar, however, he assured me that the hair grafts would cover up the scar. The second procedure (February 2006) was the actual hair transplant. Dr. Shapiro transplanted approximately 4100 grafts (approximately 8100 hairs) in one session.

I was very nervous about both sessions given the horrible results I had with my original hair transplants between 1989 and 1992. Dr. Shaprio and his staff were very professional and made me very comfortable. Dr. Shaprio has also been great regarding follow up. He has always taken my calls whenever I have had any questions. He has taken the time to answer my questions in detail.

It's wonderful to see a person have their life turned around in such a positive way. Kudus to the Shapiro Medical Group and the patient.

I just think it is amazing that the patient could trust another HT surgeon after the first HT he had. This fellow is living an entirely new life, with an entirely new outlook, I would imagine. For those of us that are bald, and have seen awesome transformations,we get excited, for sure. But what about the guys who were butchered throughout the 80's and 90's?
IMO, these types of repair jobs (accomplished by only the best docs) represent the true state of the art "gold standard" comparision, that Pat is talking about. Truly an awesome transformation, and probably not just on the outside!!!!!!

What can I say that pictures dont already tell?
That is miracle work, I bet not even in the wildest dreams did the patient expect to regain a modest hairline after his butchered HT experience.

Janna,

Wow, patient looks great. At first I didn't take note of the original dates...realize this thread is older and just updated. An amazing transformation. It just goes to show what CAN be done in the hands of the right clinic!
