This gentleman had lost the frontal third of his hair including his hairline. His goal was to get them back in one visit. Considering that he had thick caliber salt and pepper hair we didn't see a problem satisfying this request.
We packed just over 1,800 grafts into the frontal third using ultra-refind techniques. Here are his results at his one year visit. VIDEO: http://www.lindseymedical.com/Video/gs-movie.wmv

Dr. Lindsey,
Overall, for only 1800 grafts in the frontal third of the scalp, this result looks good. The video truly helps convey an accurate representation of the quality of this result also. Is there any reason that this patient didn't opt for a larger surgery to cover more area or add more hair density in the frontal third? If you have any scar mature donor scar pictures of this patient, this would be helpful. Nice work! Best wishes, Bill

Nice result Doc.
Bill, Maybe this patient only had the funds for this size session or maybe he only wanted a "conservative" session or maybe he had a "limited donor area". We read a lot about this from clinics who tend to give that as the answer to what appears inappropriate surgery for the patients obvious demand. I see these "conservative" sessions in the flesh a great deal and in my opinion it is the docs responsibility to plan appropriately for the patient short term as well as long term and enable the patient the best result possible from their first session especially when warranted. The Doctor knows only too well what these conservative sessions will turn out like and how appropriate they will be... Surely a second if not 3rd session can be avoided with appropriate surgery first time round. Seems highly inappropriate to be cut open more times than you have to be - Speaking from experience i could have actually had all my surgeries in one session if i had known what my actual requirements were. 9 out of 10 patients in my experience all want more - "hairgreed" Saying that though this patient looks to have a nice soft result which appears appropriate to him. His characteristics look great and have certainly aided his illusion Has this patient got greedy - does he want more?? - - I am sure you will now tell him he doesn't want another session and is completely satisfied with just this one - LOL

Spex,
I appreciate your input, but since you are only speculating with possibilities (all of which I've considered), my question was for Dr. Lindsey since he would know the specifics of the case. I do agree however, that for a smaller session, that this patient looks good. Bill
