This is a more complete breakdown
Plug redistribution yielded 298 FUT 2081 FUT 376 1 Hair 1489 2 Hair 216 3+4 Hair He has got a way to go but he is definitely on his way.Operation size was dictated by donor and previous scarring and we plan to do the back shortly. Mick |

Mick,
I look forward to seeing how this patient progresses. 2081 grafts for such a large balding area isn't a lot of grafts to provided a lot of hair density and coverage. Can you explain why a smaller number of grafts were extracted? Was it due to the intensity of the repair? Poor donor characteristics for a larger session? Patient finances? I think this explanation will help our members and guests fully understand this case more clearly. Best wishes, Bill

Bill,
It was a combination of factors. 1. Throughout the back there was the checkerboard effect from the plug scarring and add to that the scalp reduction meant that the amount that could be removed was much less than normal due to reduced skin elasticity. He will need a similar sized op to work on the back and maybe a touch up to the front. 2. Remember that this guy led almost a hermit like existence for many years, his hat was his best friend. He told me he recently went out without his hat and he was almost in tears.Unless you have been there it is difficult to imagine. All the people out there who have had this experience just crave to look normal, density is a side issue ;as long as nobody stares then they are happy. I have said this before but i get more of a buzz from cases like this than any other. Mick |
