This patient had 3630 ultra-refined follicular unit grafts in one single session with high-density graft placement. We used the strip method with the tricophytic closure technique.

I'll take a look this week to see if I have any immediate postoperative photos and then post them. Yes, he was extremely happy with the amount of coverage and the number of grafts in one pass.

Dr. Gabel,
The results look very nice. Do you keep a separate haircount along with the graft count at your clinic? I find that since the average hair count/density can vary from patient to patient, having both numbers make for a better assessment and comparision.

I will get the exact graft count when I go to the office this week. We record a pretty detailed graft count with each patient. For each assistant cutting grafts under the microscopes, and I require all grafts to be cut under stereoscopic microscopes, we record the number of singles, double, triples, etc grafts that they are each producing. I then compare each assistants % of each size follicular grouping to make sure that they are all consistent. We total the graft counts then at the end of the case so we have an exact graft count and count of each size follicular unit. While they are cutting grafts, I, with another assistant, place the grafts. I place grafts for the majority of each case. I am very hands on for the entire case and I enjoy placing grafts. Each assistant has their own tray labeled so I am able to evaluate each assistants' grafts for quality control. My assistants have been cutting grafts with me for a long time, but I feel it is important to monitor the process closely for each case. Steven Gabel, M.D. Portland, Oregon 503-693-1118

Dr. Gabel,
Another nice looking job. For my own curiosity, before the HT, how many hairs would you estimate were one the person's head (the top balding area) to begin with? As I evaluate my own pattern, I often wonder exactly how many grafts it would take to replicate "exactly where I am" right now with respect to what I have available from my donor area.

Dr. Gabel,
Thank you for your continued involvement in our forum community. Posting impressive results such as this will continue to show perspective patients that you are indeed a gem performing truly ultra refined follicular unit hair transplantation. If you have any immediately postoperative or scar pictures of this patient, these photos would also be helpful. Best wishes, Bill
