Dear Forum Members,
I would appreciate this community's input on the potential recommendation of Dr. Keller on the Hair Transplant Network. Dr. Keller of North Shore Hair Transplant Specialists has over 6 years of experience in hair transplantation and performs hair transplants exclusively at his clinic located in Chicago, IL. He has the experience and staff to perform over 3000 follicular unit grafts using ultra refined follicular unit grafting in a single session when appropriate for the hair transplant patient. He also only performs surgery on one patient per day in order to grant full attention to his patient. Dr. Keller believes in maintaining a level of flexibility in hair transplantation recognizing the uniqueness of each hair transplant patient. His extremely meticulous nature drives him to pay special attention to detail. Dr. Keller uses all single haired follicular units to create a natural hairline in order to properly frame the face and produces a natural crown swirl using a mix of larger and smaller follicular unit grafts to mimick nature. I learned that though Dr. Keller uses varying cutting instruments to make recipient incisions depending on the area of the scalp and patient's needs, he tends to favor sharp point precut blades as small as .75mm for 1 and 2 haired follicular unit grafts. In order to follow the natural direction of the hair, Dr. Keller often creates incisions at an angle somewhere between a sagital and coronal incision. Adjustments are made accordingly in order to follow the natural flow and direction of the hair while minimizing transection of the existing native hair. Dr. Keller uses a single blade to excise the donor area to minimize transection and uses the trichophytic closure technique to close the donor area in order to help properly camouflage the scar. Follicular unit grafts are dissected with a microscope by his highly trained hair transplant technicians of up to 6+ years experience and then placed into recipient sites under Dr. Keller's personal supervision. The pictures are of ok quality and the work looks good but I personally need to see more. Its nice to see theres another surgeon in Illinois besides Konior that can deliver
results that dont ruin your life but every surgeon has 4 or 5 great photos. Does he have more? Im 50|50 as of now. |

notgoing2gobald,
As Pat and I find physicians worth considering for recommendation, we evaluate them and if we feel they are worth considering, we post the information we have obtained for member review. I am looking forward to additional responses regarding Dr. Keller's potential recommendation. Bill

The first patient's results/pics look great. if we could see more consistent results like that I'd say this doc should be considered. The second patient's hairline looked a bit too transparent. the female patient results looked dense but picture quality was poor. Also, more immediate post-op pics would be nice.

Being new to the Network, my question would be is this the way all physicians are selected? Not that I discount Bill's opinion but seems there should be some testimonials from recent patients in addition to these photos. I know I pay more attention to what is said here than what is on the physician's web site. Just my 2??

At the request of our online community, I have asked Dr. Keller for additional patient examples and surgical pictures. I received several tonight and posted them for your review.
I have also sent him an additional request for any "top/down" angled pictures that he has for these patient cases and any donor scar pictures. Below are the links to these photo albums for your review. 4600 grafts in 2 hair transplant sessions Immediately Postoperative Pictures of extreme hair transplant repair case - 1800 grafts (warning - some graphical photos of donor strip harvesting) Surgical donor removal and closure using the trichophytic technique (warning - some graphical photos of donor strip harvesting) Best wishes, Bill

Dear members,
I appreciate the input I have received so far and at your request, I have been in touch with Dr. Keller to send additional photos. He has been very understanding and appreciative of our interest in seeing a true representation of his results. Dr. Keller plans to send additional photos in the coming week.
