This is a nice example of how much of a change can be made with even a relatively small procedure. Using just under 1600 grafts and a conservative restoration, our patient has progressed from a Norwood 6 to a norwood pattern 3vee.

Jessica,

I agree that this is a nice difference.

Is there any reason why Dr. Limmer or the patient didn't opt for a larger session to cover more ground or add more density?

Best wishes,

Bill

We discussed the option of doing 3000+ grafts, but opted for an approach that kept the cost down and allowed for subtle, but significant change while addressing the area of greatest cosmetic interest first.
He just came back and did a similar number of grafts through the mid section of his scalp. So we were able to spread the cost out, address the most important area and allow his change in appearance to occur over time minimizing the chance someone might note he's undergoing a transplant.
Obviously, we want (and he received) a significant cosmetic change, but in my opinion it's nice when the changes in appearance don't suddenly startle your friends and coworkers. With this approach the change occurs right in front of them. They forget you were balding; accepting your new appearance without questioning what happened and allows you to continue the process with additional grafting that continues to fly under the radar of those around you.

Jessica,

Thanks for the explanation.

This is a good example of what can be accomplished with not many grafts.

This approach will allow him to come back to have another surgery if he chooses to and hair growth more gradual.

I look forward to seeing more work from your clinic in the months to come.

Best wishes,

Bill
