"Crabb" - Dr Feller UK Patient 20 months post op 1800 grafts pics with his post op write up and pre op pics below:
Hi guys, I'm now back home after my HT with Dr Feller which I had on wednesday. I stayed in the Pennsylvania which was fine and very reasonable, I think I may have had a 'superior' room which was only a few dollars a night more. The location a great not only for NY in general but also for getting to Fellers as it's right opposite Penn station (Port washington train on New Jersey line to Great Neck, 30mins). I think my day at Fellers' was very similar to everyone elses experiences so I won't repeat the standard details of the operation too much, although I must say Dr Feller was very reassuring as were his staff. I had around 1800 grafts placed in the front via strip. The only painful part of the operation was when Dr Feller numbed the donor area. The rest was comfortable enough for me to even fall asleep at one point during the surgery! After getting my post-op instructions I took a cab back to my hotel at around 2pm. Spex kept in contact throughout the day to check everything was going well. I haven't really experienced any pain since the operation and only used the pain killers for the first 12 hours after the operation. I have got quite bad swelling which is now around my eyes. This could well be because I think I turn over onto my front in my sleep! Dr Feller thinks I will heal very quickly. Today the first of the scabs have started to come off. I will keep you all updated and I'm sure spex will post some pics for you if he has them! Below I will list the things I learned from this HT in-case it helps others who are going for surgery. I would consider booking into a hotel in Great Neck, near Fellers' office for the nights before and after the surgery. It would take away any worry of getting to Fellers' on time and after the op you probably won't want to go out anyway (I didn't!). It would probably be cheaper too. Obviously you will probably want to make use of the city on your trip but there is no reason why you can't move hotels. I bought a zip-up hoodie the day after surgery to wear. It's easy to put on (make sure you get one that zips up) and you can pull the hood up easily when you are in public. It feels like having a hood on is more gentle on the grafts than having a cap on. I'm sure somebody could let me know if there is a reason why this isn't suitable. Stock up in your hotel room with food and drink before the op so you don't have to go out if you don't want to. When going through airport security they were asking everyone to take their hats off. I quietly told one of the guys I'd just had surgery (you don't need to say what kind!) and they were fine with me keeping it on. I'll add to this list as I think of things. His recent update: Hi guys - a few of you might remember me from almost two years back. I had a transplant with doctor feller 20months ago - the details of which can be seen in an old thread if you search for 'crabb'. Thought I'd post some pictures/results. I think the best way for me to convey how good the results have been for me would be to tell you that this is the first time I've looked at a hairloss forum for over a year! More pics to follw shortly

Very nice write up and I appreciate Crabb submitting a few photos.
Maybe Crabb could send us some better photos without the hair in the way at the usual angles. It's very hard to judge the results from the last photo. Thanks, Dr. Feller

I am posting on behalf of Crabb here - He was in NY for 3 night/2 days and had his staples removed by a local NHS drop in centre nurse with no probs 10 days post op. - You can stay on a few days in NY if necessary beofre returning home - but the vast majority return home the night after the session on the evening flight.(sleep)
