Here are a few of the pictures of scars that we have on file. The first 3 patients have trichophytic scars and the rest have non trichophytic scars.

Dr. Alexander--- Do you find that the Trico closure is less effective after:
A. each successive use B. after you exceed 1-1.25cm wide I have been under the impression that the BEST Trico scars are those performed on patients who are 2500 grafts or LESS. I have also been hearing for some time that successive use of the Trico closure causes a decline in effectiveness. Interested in hearing your thoughts or experiences. Thanks Doc, J

Dr. Alexander,
Thanks for posting your pictures of patients scarring. I'll be curious to hear your thoughts on B Spot's questions as well. From what I've seen, depending on how you define effectiveness, there is some potential for decline, not necessarily that the hair won't grow through the scar or from stretching, but because the hair growing through the scar can grow in different directions. Seemingly, it still looks much better, IMO than a normal scar, but it's not as natural looking. Thoughts? Bill

I use a trichophytic closure when I can. It all depends on how tight the scalp is after you remove the strip. I am unable to do a tricho if it is too tight. It doesn't matter how many procedures you have had in the past. You are going to end up with worse trauma if you have to pull the stitches really tight. This could kill hairs surrounding the suture line.
