I'm 8 months after my surgery and the left side is not nearly as dense as the righ side. The right side looks alright in general, good enough to not worry about people seeing the transplant. But, the left side-it looks terrible! Huge gaps between the hairs, you can see exactly where my real hair line ends and where the transplant begins. Even on the right side, in the corners-of the widows peak-it's a little sparse. Is this normal? Does it fill in within one year? I'll get back to you guys with some pictures and graft/hair amounts later, but in the mean time, any tips would be GREATLY appreciated. I'm tired of feeling like I have to wear a hat every where.
Thanks

Calm down.. First, who was your surgeon?? That will determine a lot of what is to come..2nd, it is normal for hairs to grow at different paces in addition to the fact maybe you suffered shock loss on one side and not on another.. 8 months is a bit late though .. Answer the questions, send pics and I'm sure the experts on here will give you an assessment.

J_25,

Welcome to our community!

Although at 8 months, your HT is not yet mature, sparse growth at 8 months may be reason for concern. It is advisable however, not to make a full evaluation of your HT until month 12.

Firstly, have you contacted your hair restoration doctor about this? What does he/she have to say about it?

Any more detail of your case would be helpful, such as:

1. Date of your surgery
2. Number of grafts/hairs placed?
3. The area the grafts were transplanted (front, mid, crown, etc).
4. Pre-op/immediately post-op/progressive/current photos will be helpful to assess what is going on.
5. Name of your doctor

We will do our best to help you. Try not to panic. You are among friends.

Bill

Here's my photo album. I don't have a digital camera so this is just taken with the camera on my Mac. In the fourth pic, you can see clearly where the transplant starts and where the natural hair line ends. I just emailed Dr. Keene again with the number of grafts and what not. Any tips, suggestions? I didn't meet with any of her former patients before the surgery, do any of you guys know of patients, with similar hair lines that I could meet up with just to see final results 12+ months post-op? By the way, I'm taking Finasteride (1/4 of a pill once a day), Biotin 5000mcg (once a day), and multi vitamin (once a day.)
Thanks for looking and any comments or suggestions is greatly appreciated.

j_25,

I can see in the 4th picture, especially the way you are styling your hair that it appears a bit thin however, in all honesty, it's impossible to make any kind of evaluation without before pictures and knowing the details of your surgery (that I asked for above).

I encourage you to provide the details above so we can get a better understanding of your situation.
