Greetings to all the forum members,
This is my first post, although I have been silently following this forum with interest on and off for years (I even vaguely remember posters like arfy"???whatever happened to arfy?). I did post a set of photos a few years ago on another forum, but I have never been an active participant on any forum. As a bit of background, I have been doing lateral slit hair transplants ever since 2000, immediately after Dr. Jerry Wong kindly and graciously allowed me to train with him and learn his then little-known technique. As far as I know, I was the first person he ever trained. Prior to being exposed to this technique, I had decided not to do hair transplants because I was unsatisfied with what I had seen. Consequently, if I hadn't met Dr. Wong when I did, I probably wouldn't be doing hair transplants at all. I read the thread regarding the patient photos on my website and I am very pleased that many others feel the way I do about them. From my perspective, this is my "art" so you will have to excuse me if I take things said about them personally. I felt it might also be helpful to show some photos of some recent patients and their immediate postop photos along with graft counts, so I have included 3 of them for your perusal. The last two patients were patients who recently came in for follow-up. I unfortunately don't have graft counts for patient 4 here at home with me, but I will get them and post them later. Patient 5 is 10 months out and I anticipate that he will still improve a bit more as more hair grows and the hair gradually becomes a little less coarse. Thanks for taking a look and although I can't promise to participate on a daily basis, I look forward to participating as much as I can. Lastly, you can see other closeup photos at: http://www.drnakatsui.com/gallery.html Sincerely, Thomas Nakatsui |

Dr. Nakatsui,
Welcome to our forum community. If you remember Arfy then you do go way back. At one time Arfy had more posts on the hair loss forums than any human on the planet. But I have not seen any posts from him in over a year. Anyone know what happen to Arfy? We appreciate you posting your surgical results, especially the immediate post op photos, which in my opinion demonstrate your capability to do high density when appropriate. Thanks also for providing the hair counts by graft. I believe that the quality of your work will enable you to thrive on this community because it holds up under scrutiny. I look forward to seeing more of your work in the future and seeing your satisfied patients posting on this forum. Best regards, Pat P.S. Feel free to share your expertise on any of the other discussions on this forum. Input from a top hair transplant physician is greatly appreciated on this forum.

Dr. Nakatsui-
Thanks for posting the patient pictures for viewing. The work really looks great. The "after" pics of those that have grow look very nice as well as the up close pics of your incisions. I look forward to seeing more of your work here and welcome your participation whenever you have time.

Dr. Nakatsui,
I don't have a lot to add to what has already been said...but firstly, welcome to the community. I think I speak for everyone when I say, we are happy to have you hear. I echo Cousin_It in that it's commendable that you take your work personally...as well you should. It shows you care for the patient and want to do the best quality work that you can. Agreeably, the fact that you were trained by Dr. Wong is also a nice feather in your cap. The before/during/after pictures of the above patients look phenominal from what I can see. Any chance of posting your results also from a different angle? Hairline and side pictures typically show more density than actually is...where the top down pictures tend to show more realistic density. By the way...I also remember Arfy....though I'm not sure of his whereabouts. I believe he is one of the first forum members I talked to and he gave me support when I was first learning. Good guy...miss him. Falc

Cousin_It, nobuzz, Pat, hairbank, and falceros,
Thank you for your welcome and for the comments. As for Dr. Wong, I can't say enough good things about him. He is not only talented but a genuinely nice guy. With respect to taking my work personally, I can't help it. I guess it's part of my personality and I do think it helps me strive for the best. Cousin_it, with respect to pt 5, I dense-packed the frontal forelock area at a density of about 60-65 grafts per cm2, which is giving him nice density in that area. falceros, with respect to a top down photo, I checked my photos and I don't have a top down view, but I will be asking him to return in 2 months. At that time, I will definitely take a top down view. Thanks again for the comments. Thomas Nakatsui
