Hello guys, I am looking for a doctor to rebuild my hairline I had a visit with Dr. Joseph L. Williams at the Advanced Medical Hair institute here in Las Vegas and I am looking for advise from you guys as to what do you think of my visit with him. He recommended 2000 grafts that sounds about right is what I had calculated and he wants about $10500 give or take a $1000 depends if he harvest more than 2000 grafts and has to implant more grafts; is that a fair price?
One of my main concerns is the scar on the back of my head since I like to keep my hair short usually about 1.5 or a 2 buzzer guide and I wonder how visible will the scar be with my hair that short Dr. Williams said it wouldn't be a problem; for what I read in the forum trichophytic closure is the way to go however he said he uses staples and said it is better since sutures sometimes create ingrown hairs; he offered his cold laser treatment free for 2 months it is supposed to help heal faster by increasing circulation don't know much about it, does it work?
I talked to him about FUE he didn't recommend it, he said their yields are lower due to when they do the harvesting is easy to damage the graft since sometimes you can't see the direction of the hair is growing cutting in the wrong direction damaging the graft.
I saw a few pictures of his work and they look good the forum recommend him, he said he has never had a lawsuit against him, but I am not so sure about his techniques since they are different to what I see people recommend here. Any input you guys can give I would really appreciate.
I want to visit more doctors unfortunately I don't see any other recommended by the coalition here in Las Vegas, some people said not to restrict my search by location and I do understand that however it is a factor that impact my decision since I can go too far due to my work and I really have to watch my budget.
this are some of the doctors close to me ...

Dr. Bill Reed
Dr. Bill Rassman (extremely expensive to see this guy he is part of "New Hair")
Dr. Ken Siporin
Dr. Meshkin
Dr. Sheldon S. Kabaker
Dr. Scott F. Alexander
Dr. Sharon Keene
Dr. Steven Gabel

Can you guys comment on this doctors or recommended me others, I might be able to travel farther but it would be a bit harder for me to accomplish.
Being is my hair that I have to carry for a lifetime I am really trying to be careful on how to choose, it is complicated and I would appreciate any help you guys could give me.
Thank you very much in advance looking forward to read your comments. Thank you.

FUE is great if you don't require a ton of grafts; want to keep your hair short; want/need less post-op healing; don't mind paying a premium. Many -- even good -- doctors aren't up to employing FUE; though, some are and can do it ethically and with wonderful results -- e.g. Feller.

I'm a bit surprised he said buzzing to a 1.5 would "not be a problem" when you mentioned a poentially visible scar; I could be wrong, but I would say it def would be visible (?).

The "cold laser treatment" sounds fishy, but what do I know...I'd be shocked if it did you any harm, though if there was great, credible evidence for its efficacy I would think at all the elite, progressive docs would be all over it.

It's tough to say how appropriate the 2k figure is for you w/o pics. I would most definitely get at least one "2nd" opinion.

Of the docs you listed, I personally have liked the work of Gabel, Keene, and Alexander vmuch.

GL, of course, and it's good to see you are taking a pragmatic approach to this and not rushing in!

Dr. Alexander was one of my top three considerations. His work is incredible. Dense packed and very natural design. IMO, one of the TOP docs out there. Also, although he's in New York, you should consider DR.Feller.

P.S. do a search on this board for Williams and on hairlosshelp.com. If no results pop-up that doesn't mean he's a bad doc but he's defintiely not considered a TOP doc, and anyone other than a TOP doc is gamble...
