Bald414 is a veteran of this site (as well as the other major sites) who has been wearing hair systems for years and asked me to post his first hair transplant experience on his behalf.

His goal was to have a real hairline again, behind which he would place a hair system.
His major concern, however, was that the hairline be DENSE AND NATURAL. Nothing else would do. Bald414 educated himself through sites like this one and knew exactly what was possible and what he wanted.

He showed me where the hairpiece would sit and we figured out the best design for his hairline.

On the day of surgery we were able to obtain 1,670 grafts which we dense packed into the intended front hairline. To my surprise, Bald414 had an above average laxity in his scalp which would allow for a more aggressive second surgery if he decided he wanted another one in the future.

I tried a system once and I also had the chronic sweaty itchy irritated oily scalp - which is one reason why I got rid of it after a few weeks and resolved never to wear a system again.

No offense intended, but why this guy would choose to put himself in a position where he MUST where a system at all times to avoid looking like a freak is beyond me.

Having said that the transplant work itself looks good, with relatively minimal inflammation after one week.

Woody:
That is a good question, and one I was going to pose.
This guy is now a slave to his hair system. He looks like a freak without it. I wouldn't have made that decision, but I guess it's his life. Maybe he likes the hair system and doesn't mind wearing it forever.
One thing I think was presented incompletely and unintentionally, is that sure the scar is only 1mm wide, but it CAN stretch after the sutures are removed. Just because it is initially 1mm doesn't necessarily mean it will end that way. It may stretch. The doc has no control over that other than the style of suturing he uses and his skill. Even if he uses cutting edge suturing and is highly skilled, the scar could stretch. Just a head's up.
