Many of you may have read ballonman's trial run of FUE placed into the scar produced by prior surgeries. During his surgery we only placed ten grafts as a test. Yeasterday, however, decided to perfom another FUE scar revision, but this time placed 45 grafts into a 1.5 cm sq area of scar.
This patient's scar is rare, but it does happen. I harvested the FUE from just below the scar. The left most side was the most obvious, so we decided to focus on that area first. 45 grafts were harvested via FUE with perforation Slits were made in the scar area And the grafts placed

The entire scar is unusually big, especially considering the amount of work he said he had done prior to visiting with me.It extends almost ear to ear and is as wide as 4cm at some points.
I suspect this patient has a mild connective tissue disorder that allowed this amount of scarring. I also say this because I noted a substantial quality difference in the tissue as I performed the FUE. After performing literally thousands of FUEs in just the past few months, I can say with authority that his was a bit different. The area I filled was actually a rectangle 1.5 cm long by 1 cm high. We will watch the growth on this and establish how many grafts ACTUALLY do grow. After determining this, I will hit that scar with 500 FUEs in one sitting. That should do it. This patient's probable connective tissue disorder would not have been a factor had he had FUE exclusively, and is further testament to the power and potential of this procedure. Just curious, after the # of procedures you have had, what's wrong with your hairline that you need more work? Interesting post about the scar camouflaging procedure by the way.
