Just a thought. I noticed that grafts were actually placed pretty far outside of the zone that was drawn at pre-surgery. How often does this happen? Was there reasoning that would cause the surgeon to elect to change the game plan?

NN,
The grafts were not placed outside the lines. If you look at the top views the edges of the transplant land right on them perfectly.

If we do go outside the lines, it's usually because the surgeon has extra grafts and overruns the original target. This is usually a very good thing.

It looks like some in the crown are beyond the lines drawn, but then in other photos, it does not. The photo immediately post-op is where it looks like extra grafts were outside the zone in the crown, but the pictures at 18 months grown out look like it is in the zone.

I think it only proves that a camera can be deceiving sometimes. If more grafts can be found and harvested then all the better (we should all be so lucky) maybe he had a better "yield" than expected.

Now I understand. Yes, a few grafts were placed beyond the line into the crown.
The line does not demarc the maximum area to be filled, but the minimal area that we desire to fill. If we can go over the mark, so much the better.

Is there any photographs of the results from the second procedure Dr Feller?
