Thanks for posting these pics, Janna. His progress at six months looks really, really good. I especially like how you've shown shots from a variety of angles. We all like to see hairline work...................but there's so much more. I really like being able to evaluate a person's total change evidenced by overhead and profile shots. It really helps in providing the big picture. I hope this guy comes back at the end of 1 year for another round of pics..............I'm sure it will continue to grow and thicken.

Hi Hairbank & Bay,
This patient is local, so I know he will be in at 12 months follow up for more pictures. I will try to remember to update his pics when they become available. He looked great and he definately has more density to come. I'm sorry, I checked his chart for immediate post op pics. I was not able to locate any myself. I will check another source on Monday.

Nice results, Janna. And nice post too. Thanks for sharing.
It is particularly cool to see such a comprehensive presentation in terms of patient information. The inclusion of the initial evaluation and surgery chart should help prospective patients get a handle on how individual hair, skin, and donor characteristics can play a big role in the aesthetic outcome.

Janna,
Results look good for 6 months...more to come. I'm wondering why only 2900 grafts on such a bald area though? Was his donor area limited in density and laxity? Clearly, the results look great for only 2900 grafts though. Bill

Bay,
I guess we don't have his immediate post op pics. Sorry about that. We do have many others with their immed. post ops I can post with similar graft numbers. Let me know if you're interested. Thanks Jess and hairlosscure. It's nice to see other techs on the Forum these days. Dr. Shapiro is pretty thorough in and out of surgery.

Hi Bill,
Sorry, I didn't have much time yesterday to reply. There are number of reasons for this patient getting a 2900 graft session. If you look at his recipient site closely, he actually has a relatively small area as his head is on the smaller side. The patient was not concerned with his crown. He wanted to address the frontal half only, and he wanted an appropriate hairline in respect to his age. The patient was clearly thrilled with just the 6 months result. He wasn't looking to have his old hairline or density back to pre-hair loss. If Propecia is able to keep from future loss, he won't need another session. On the other hand, if he does lose more, he will have plenty more donor supply to address his needs. What's remarkable is what 2900 grafts can do. As you can see by his hair count, his density is lower than average yet he'll have the density he's hoping for. Placement of grafts in the appropriate sites and sizes, and keeping all FU's intact are very effective tools. Sometimes, I think, there's great emphasis on getting the big numbers. Despite the "wow" factors to getting the big numbers, there is still a risk. There's something to a clinic who may only do 1000-1500 graft sessions, but does it very, very well.
