Dear Forum Members,

Dr. Brandon Ross was prescreened and approved for recommendation by this community in July of 2008. To see how we recommend physicians, click here. Since then, he's been presenting impressive examples of his ultra refined work on our forum, garnering the respect of veteran patient and leading physician members of our community.

In addition to a showcase of impressive ultra refined results, Pat Hennessey, Publisher of the Hair Transplant Network visited with Dr. Ross and observed him and his staff in live surgery last year. After watching Dr. Ross and his staff perform live surgery, Pat felt that his work was truly state of the art. To see the highlights from Pat's visit, view 'Visit to Dr. Ross Medical Group in La Jolla, CA'.

Dr. Ross has the experience, skill, and staff necessary to perform over 3000 follicular units in a single procedure and dense packing when appropriate for the patient.

Given Dr. Ross' proven track record of producing ultra refined results and experience, Pat and I believe it's time we consider him for the Coalition of Independent Hair Restoration Physicians. To see our standards for the Coalition, click here.

Mr. GQ and all,

We value all input from respected members such as yourself. If you believe you have a reason why Dr. Ross should not be part of the Coaliton and we feel we agree with you, he would not be approved for Coalition membership.

However, do remember that we consider all the evidence we've collected before making a final decisions on who we recommend including private interviews, privately and publicly screened photo albums, our observations of him and his staff in live surgery, and input from our patient and physician members.

Thus, those who disagree should make a compelling case as to why he should not be considered. Given all the excellent reviews and comments he's received on his photo albums from patient members on this forum along with other data we've collected, simply stating "I don't agree" isn't enough.

We recognize that not everyone will agree on all the decisions Pat and I make. However, we hope you trust that we've carefully weighed the varying input and don't take our recommendations lightly.

Best wishes,

Bill

Bill no offense, I've ran a search and there are only 15 cases presented by Dr. Ross and not all of them are WOW. I guess time will tell but at this time I think we are jumping the gun.

Just my $0.02 for what it's worth.

I did a quick search and did not see any results from Dr. Ross that included a NW 6 or NW 7. Before formulating an opinion I would need to see a few examples of his work on men who are extensively bald, as I believe those cases are the best indication of a doctor's work. Does Dr. Ross have any examples like that to share with us?

I don't see enough here to give an educated opinion.

Since I am one of the few active posters who actually went under the knife with Dr. Ross I feel I am qualified to weigh in. I am 4 months from my HT. At this stage it is way too early to extrapolate my final outcome. Others who went with Ross before me unfortunately did not continue to update their blog/status.

I had a very nice pre-consult. the staff went out of their way to ensure I was comfortable the day prior to and day of surgery. Dr Brandon was very friendly and offered every conceivable means of contact to ensure I had all my needs addressed post surgery. the surgery itself as documented in my blog suggests that his work is pretty consistent and typical of what Pat witnessed during his visit (I am pretty certain that Dr. Ross had no idea that I was even aware of this community when we met)

His donor closures are among the best in the industry as commented on by a few nurses that witnessed the handywork when i returned to Tampa.

His willingness to perform an HT without the patient first shaving down should be commended and should earn him some brownie points.

His staff is fixed (not traveling) and they have even more years in the industry than he does.

those are the good points. The negatives are clearly a lack of a substantial track record with verifiable results that screams of consistently good outcomes. I have also seen an example where he transplanted into scar tissue that left me thinking the outcome was pretty much a failure (but I looked past that due to the circumstances)

All in all if the coalition intends to be representative of the cream of the crop in HTs then I would ask Dr. Ross to post more pre/post examples of his work on a more regular basis over the next 3 to 6 months.

At the same time present members should not be allowed to rest on their laurels either. Staff can come and go and results may suffer due to cost cutting etc. the doctors should also be asked to maintain a current portfolio of results that gets updated frequently to ensure results continue at a certain level.

Yes.

I used to live in San Diego. I have seen an outcome of Dr. Ross' work, in person, and it was quite good (this guy had less than 1500 grafts and the cosmetic change was visible). Granted, Dr. Ross might still not have the consistency or the illusion of density created by the top 4-5 doctors, but overall, he is doing fine.

So yes, it's fine with me if he is recommended.
