Unfortunately he had two bad hair transplants in Spain, in 2003.
His grafts are too big, which gives a bad aspect as he has thick hair.
On the pictures with shaved hair, we can see that the grafts are placed very deeply inside the skin so it looks like a crater.
The scar on the donor area is wide so I reduced it during the surgery. I spoke with the patient before the surgery and we defined the best strategy to adopt, he wanted to reach a high number of grafts even if we could not reduce completely the scar.
Then we removed the biggest grafts on the anterior part using some micro punches via the FUE technique. Thanks to a good orientation of the new grafts placed I could leave some old grafts on that area.

Our aim was to reach at least 2500 grafts.
At the end we had 2575 fu for 5243 hair.

594 singles
1391 doubles
497 triples
89 with 4 hair
4 with 5 hair.

The grafts were placed into 2340 incisions (pairing of 200 grafts)
The anterior line has been voluntary left fuzzy, and not very dense because of the thickness of the hair.
A dozen of big grafts were removed, and the holes of the punches were not sutured.

The result is very natural, and the patient is very satisfied. We still have a little pluggy aspect on the right profile so we are planning another 300 grafts FUE surgery so to perfect the result by removing some old grafts and we will add some density on the temples with thin hair.

I made a better scar but there is still a little enlargement where the scar was widen. Probably we will correct it with the FUE technique as well.

Finally, this is a good example of a correction that can give some hope to people who had a bad HT.

You have some of the best pictures and documentation on here.
If more clinics would follow your lead we could concentrate more on helping people instead of questioning the results.
Too bad the guy didnt go to you before that other clinic .
Nice job!!

well done. I can't help but think of the recent post regarding non-coalition doctors and how that list isn't the end all be all for top notch doc's....I think this is a perfect example of that.

On a side note I'd like to point out that all the dos i'm considering are part of the coalition and this site has been BEYOND helpful in helping me narrow that down)but if I was in europe I couldn't imagine not considering or excluding Dr. Devroye for my procedure just because he wasn't a part of this "elite" group.
That being said, any reason why he's not at the very least a "recommended" surgeon? (if this is an oversight on my part and he is in fact a recommended surgeon or in the coalition then disregard any mention of that in this post...its been a long week!!).

Regardless job well done!

Hello,

I would like to thank please grow please, eman, hthelp and miketedane, and of course Bill, for their comments on the quality of the iconography.

It is true that my aim is to present pictures which are clear, explanatory, from different angle in order to give the patients the best reflection of what it is really possible to obtain, and not by disguising reality.

I want the quality of my presentations to reflect the quality of my interventions. In a previous post,
Dr Devroye's patient Global correction of a bad HT
I made a deeper analysis of the surgery by measuring precisely the recipient area and by measuring the 'mass index' of the hair transferred.

I did not received particular comments on that post except of course Bill's one and I do not know if this analysis is not too deep. Any comment on this topic will be welcome.

About HTHELP's post, he did not know if I was part of the coalition or not, I will specify that I was introduced by Pat Hennesey on the list of the recommended surgeons in 2001. I was the first European surgeon to be added on HairTransplantNetwork website.
It is true that at the beginning I was quite discrete, and I did not communicate much during the first years. In May 2007, I had the opportunity to welcome Pat Hennessey in my clinic in Brussels for two days of observation. Here the link of the page reporting his visit.
Photos from Pat's visit to Dr. Jean DeVroye's hair transplant clinic in Brussels, Belgium
http://www.regrowhair.com/hair...in-brussels-belgium/

Following this visit, Pat included me in the coalition and this was a great honour for me.

We are preparing a post on three surgeries FUE. We will make it with the same care as for the previous ones.
Finally for those who would like to see one or more previous presentations here are the links:

Dr DEVROYE-Brussels- 3550 grafts 7377 Hair
Dr Devroye's patient 3289 Gr. 6940 Hair - 34 years old

I also have a new website in which I present pictures only. To fully enjoy the slideshow, it is absolutely requested to download a program called 'plugin cooliris' which is presented on the first page.

See you soon on the forum,

Dr. Jean Devroye
