This young man was concerned about loss of the frontal hairline. He kept his hair fairly bushy to camouflage the recession, and after several consultations opted to move forward with a conservative hairline case. He had a great donor area to harvest, in that his hair shafts were both densely packed and thicker than most asians that I have worked with.
Additionally, he followed postop cleaning instructions to the T and looked great when sutures came out on day 7. Dr. Lindsey McLean VA

At our consultations we always address patients have 4 options. 1. Do nothing, you won't die from hairloss.
2. Camouflage, whether with pigment powders, combovers, or hairpieces. 3. Medical options. I don't sell medicines like some practices do, but I prescribe lots of propecia, as I have posted. 4. Surgery. For each patient, younger more so than older, I emphasize that while the patient can somehow arrive with more money in the future, that the donor region be used frugally; and what implications there are with further loss. For this fellow, he heard all of this, had a reasonable family history, and I sent him home to consider his options. He booked a few weeks later and we had a couple of phone discussions prior to his surgical date. And folks are always invited to come in as much as they want preop. I just saw a guy that I met in June 08, saw him again in March 09, and maybe he will schedule now. But he is welcome to come back again to discuss options. Dr. Lindsey McLean VA
