Hello everyone, I have been a long time reader, but just wanted to give back to the forum for once. I will be updating my weblog to give people my progress.
So heres the story:
So, when I went in for the day before the surgery, Dr. Hasson and Joe talked to me about my goals and what to expect from the surgery. They checked my scalp laxity which to their knowledge was pretty tight. Although, they said that I had a very small head and great density and would try to get as much for the surgery to reconstruct my hairline and two third behind it. I would leave my crown alone and see if I could wait for a future transplant.
Honestly, I was pretty nervous on the day of the surgery (never had one before), but Dr. Hasson and the techs. were very caring and helpful in putting my mind at ease. I have to admit, the lidocaine that they injected in my donor site didn't hurt that much. It felt more like a little prick and the numbness started to work right away; after that I couldn't feel anything while Dr. Hasson started to take out the strip. While I was waiting in the chair, the techs where doing their job and getting the grafts ready to implant. While they were doing that, Dr Hasson gave me a counter to count how many incisions he made, after he made 2300 incisions the techs. started to implant them in the hairline and about two inches back. Dr. Hasson came back and told me that I had 4300 grafts and I was shocked, so we decided to do the whole head...lol. I have to admit that the worst part of the surgery was sitting in the chair so long.
